I would like to see him fight one more time in front of his home crowd. He might have to take a pay cut for the night to do so, but I would hope that would not prevent a fight from occurring there. Since Philippines is about 13 hours ahead of Eastern Time, if they wanted to make it the usual pay per view, the fight would have to happen Sunday morning. But if they wanted the fight on a Saturday night over there, then PPV would not work, and, therefore, his pay cut. As for the opponent, I do not think guys like JMM/Berto/Alexander/Bradley would be in the mix for a fight there. Outside of the purse questions, I think any of these names would prefer to make the fight in the US. They'd need to find an attractive name, a guy who could still garner interest, but at the same time not have much leverage at the negotiating table. One name pops into my head. The name is Joan Guzman. Arum has dangled Guzman's name as a potential opponent at various times over the years, albeit not in quite some time. And, sadly, it's apparent that Arum never really had any true intention of making this fight. Under this scenario, though, Guzman is pretty much the perfect opponent. Pacquiao would get his 80/20 split fighting in front of the home crowd. No weight issues here. Let them come in at whatever weight they want, more or less. And at the same time, Guzman is a very credible opponent that would be taken seriously.
I hope not. I have a real job now with decent pay. I'm gonna try to go to all of his remaining fights. :hi:
They've run PPVs out of the Philippines before that happen early Sunday afternoon in the Philippines and run prime time in the states. Donaire-Martinez / Viloria-Solis was done that way.
Jan Zaveck would fight him in his sandbox !!! He has the IBF belt and no recognition outside Slovenia. It would be a good fight.
Interesting question. The Phillipino people definately deserve it that's for sure. Thinking about the amount of people that will show up this would be a huge event. Does the Phillipines even have a venue to host something big like this?
