Mentally it's taking its toll, as evidenced by the enslaught of excuses. We've seen this script before from previous Mayweather opponents who never seem to find their form after defeat.

What's next for Manny? Is it all downhill from here?

    Pacquiao is spent.

His heart is no longer in the sport. He has no reason to fight any longer anyway.

He's got the money and his legacy as 2nd best of this era has been sealed.

I think you're right when you say "all down hill from here" in terms of boxing.

They said Pacquiao was reinvigorated for Mayweather, the old spark had returned and if that is what we saw over the weekend (the best Pacquiao for years) then Pacquiao should take his well earned wealth and go and become the president of his country.

Like Mayweather, Pacquiao has nothing to prove, he is a great fighter and a future HOF'er, what else is there to do?

Hardly his biggest defeat. Getting KOed by JMM was much more of an upset.

I don't think he can draw-wise. Wins over Marquez, Maidana, Canelo, Khan, two wins from those and he'll gain some plaudits for the last segment of his career. Not beating Floyd is no crime, he is a fellow ATG with immaculate defense and safety first point gathering, it is what it is.

That Pacquiao would knock Khan out, batter Maidana but Canelo and Marquez would be dangerous, as they would always be. He'll bounce back when he admits defeat and his hunger to redeem himself will be strong, not everyone is Mayweather and his infuriating/impressive mode of operation. Don't hold this against Pacman, bad strategy and couldn't find a way, just like 90% of other Floyd opponents.

Jessie Vargas and Mike Alvarado are not going to cut it, Crawford would be a solid win despite him going up in weight.

Idk. I know he'd hate to retire on a loss. I feel he only had the motivation for mayweather. Now that's it done .. Where's the motivation? A rematch? If no rematch, he should retire.

How does one recover from the trauma of three right hands a round from such a devastating, concussive puncher?

He reacted better to his KO loss to Marquez.

Pacquiao may not be shot, but he's nowhere near as explosive as he was. I hope he retires, or I see a string of losses coming..

Pacquiao was preaching his religion whilst Mayweather was training hard. In boxing, you get what you put in and God ( if there is a god) favours no man in the ring. Pacquiao should retire. Mayweather should also retire. Nothing left to prove.

No reason for him to retire, or recover. He will just step back into his own niche, which is, and always was a level below Mayweather. Lets be honest about this. What you got Saturday night was what was written on the tin. Mayweather had always claimed ( in so many words ) that Pac was merely a one dimentional puncher and he would out box, and out class him if and when they fought.

The fight proved without a doubt that the fighter A beating fighter B, and therefore he beats fighter C theory can be as correct as often as it can be incorrect. One only needs to see how Pac could never get a decisive win over the counter punching Marquez in 4 attempts, yet Mayweather humiliated the guy. Mayweather a far superior counter puncher, and tactician than JMM did EXACTLY the same to Pac on Saturday.

So no, there is nothing to recover from, just a need to accept that Mayweather is in a different league to him, and concentrate on fighting the lower tier fighters in which he belongs.

Yes he can. I hope they can match Pac with Crawford or Brook or Khan. then retire regardless of the result.
