    Not really. not with hindsight.

but even then he looked good goin into that fight atleast.

but i dont give him any credit right now.

at the time i was caught up in the moment of watching it live, but looking back, no he wasnt relevant.

Unless a miracle happens and margo wins, it would be pointless.

How much credit does one deserve for beating a guy who wouldn't appear in an active top 75 pound for pound list? Or someone who is nowhere close to the top 10 in any specific weight class. This does not delve into the fact that it is much more likely Margarito has been "loading" his gloves for years. Pacquiao will get as much credit from me as he would if he were to fight and defeat Matthew Hatton. And should he lose, he would not fall from the #2 pound for pound spot, but there would be no plausible argument for him to remain #1.

Credit for what? Of all the opponents Pac could have fought, the pick a washed up cheater.

It's like eating cold pizza. It might still be decent but definitely falls short of excellence. I would've loved to see today's version of Pac against Marg coming off a fresh win over Cotto. I would pay a lot of money to see that fight. I'd give Pac 2 stars out of 5 for winning via KO and I'm being generous. I don't care what the circumstances are, it's impressive to a certain degree to see a small guy knocking out a much bigger man.

It's funny how a pointless fight like Pacquiao-Margarito will set a new record for live attendance for boxing in the US when Cowboy Stadium host 60,000 + fans.:yep

He should get credit for it, quite a lot of credit actually, and he should have got more credit for the Clottey win because the fact is a few years ago the thought of Pac EVER fighting these guys, the thought of him even being competitive with them, was absolutely ridiculous. I guarantee you if someone had posted before the De La Hoya fight and probably even after it as well that Manny Pacquiao would beat Antonio Margarito nearly every poster on this forum would have told them to shut the **** up because they knew nothing about boxing.

It's not about "discrediting" it's about being an honest fan. Margarito is slow, he can't box, he hasn't boxed in a long time, and in his last fight he was knocked out.

This is hardly a "legacy fight".

hardcore boxing fans will yawn when Manny wins, this just is a fight he cannot lose or allow Margarito to look good in there against him.

The only way he would get credit is if he destroyed him early like Hatton.

from me he will but probably not from most, they will all say how slow marg is and without hes wraps hes nothing. or his style was tailor made for pac and its just another hand picked pacquiao opponent.but i suppose alot will depend on how he beats him

Of course he will. but like anyone in PAC's position...he'll get a lot of haters looking for a way to discredit the win. but most will see it for what it is and will give him credit especially if he exceeds expectations like he normally does.

thats quite a discredit to what he has already achieved :?:?

    how about destroyng barrera?

how about smacking hatton into retirement?

how about standing toe to toe with miguel cotto?

how about shutting out joshua clottey?

beating margo is nowhere near one of his best achevements. how can you even suggest that beating a washed up cheat who hasnt beaten a ranked opponent for 2 years, would be one of the greatest achievements of pacmans career?

you must either be a hater or sarcastic.
