I think not. Besides, Williams has always just been a "good" boxer, the only advantage he has is reach and size over his opponents. But ofcourse that means nothing when you have a solid game plan and most of all, the skills to execute them. Not taking away anything from him, but he needs to improve overall and not just depend on his physical attributes, but to properly use them along with ad******g to his opponent and perhaps change trainers.

    Gentlemen..... DISCUSS!!!!

If he gets his act together he can still be a monster at 147-154, no shame in one ko against a guy like martinez, boxing writes guys of way too fast

Hopefully he'll be back, but if he doesn't change his style completely or get new trainers, then he's going to lose again.

Sure he can come back. Terry Norris came back, although admittedly he could box and his a HOFer. The problem for Williams is his durability was one of his main attributes, something he banked on and it remains to be seen what that does to his confidence (a massive, underrated part of boxing). Ironically this might actually force him to be more cautious and not be as reckless, now that he knows he can be starched.

However, i don't think we'll see any changes in his style or camp. Peterson is a father figure to him and he'll never get rid of him, unfortunately. He'll definitely have some more big wins and collect a couple of straps, especially if he goes back to 147 and ideally for him at 154, which is his best weight right now. He was never a middleweight and all that jumping around finally caught up with him. I think we'll see him get knocked out again as well.

The phrase, you are who you are...comes to mind.

As long as he stands clear of 160 I think he should be ok.

In fact, I'm in favor of throwing him in against Mosley at 54 right away.

He can come back against carefully chosen opposition. If he fights regional-grade athletes like Cotto, Margarito, Rubio, Espino, Kirkland, Santos, Porter, Clottey, and Berto, he's fare well and accumulate a decent resume before retiring.

his glass jaw has been fully exposed to a global audience. i predict williams will get knocked out again the 1st time he steps back up against a half decent puncher. either that or he will fight scared to a points defeat. once a jaw gets fully exposed like this, a fighter is never the same again mentally or physically.

Like Paul said against Martinez, he will do what he normally does. He will never change, so this will probably happen again.

some crap in this thread he was KO by a decent puncher not immense by any stretch but not many men are as feather fisted as Paulie M.

Course he can come back but he will need someone to teach him to modify his style stand up a little straighter jab a little more and not be so reckless hes young can fight in many weight classes hes got plenty more fight in him yet - 1 decent win and he will back in title contention

If he were to fight like that against Pavlik you best believe Paul will stay knocked out perhaps worse.

If pwill didn't punch from too far away, or lean in too much he wouldn't
eat half the shots he does. Trouble is, that he has a club fighter level's
corner, and needs a ronnie sheilds, roger bloodworth, or kenny adams to
make these necessary corrections. His durabilty and heart, coupled with
his size and power will always be attributes, but he can't neglect ring
smarts because he has size advantages. I do think pwill can bounce back from this, but the question is will he learn from this and accept change?

You've just exposed yourself as a fake boxing fan.

Bring back the ESB quiz folks, and we can rid these boards of the trolls
    once and for all.
