Will Paul "The Punished" Williams come back the same after that nightmare of a KO?

That was a hell of a shot Martinez took Williams out with. However, the technique behind if it was bloody awful. Head out past his feet, face pointed down at the canvass, eyes closed. It's a serious knock on Paul, but not many world class boxers would get hit with that punch.

A quick KO like that is generally easier to come back from than a sustained beating. I think Paul will be back, and do just fine, but he will absolutely have to tighten up his defense, and sort out his offensive approach. If he doesn't, he is going to get knocked out a few more times, especially at 160.

You obviously know nothing about boxing!!

Just because you get KO'd doesn't mean you have a glass jaw. It was a clean and powerful punch that took Williams down, a shot like that would probably have KO'd anyone.

BS your basing that statement on what, your personal experience? Williams is a decent fighter and still has a lot to offer to the sport.

PW will come back but hopefully w/ a different technique. He has to start using his height, reach advantage and a better defense. A new trainer might make this possible.

Of course, they are not European grade.

Just follow ESB flow of thoughts.

I think he'll definitely come back "the same". The question is will he come back better? Will he learn to use his height/reach, jab? Will he learn some defense and not get hit as much?

Anyway it wasn't that much the KO itself that will devastate him mentally, it's how that motherless ***** Max Kellerman showed him the replay right after he came back to consciousness!

    can he or will he...

of course he can. its happpened before. he needs to stay the hell out of 160 unless he's fighting someone w/ winky-esque power. he has so much to work on that he can improve. the short answer is yes, he can. now we'll just have to sit back and see if he does.

If he doesn't tighten that defense up he won't last long!!!

He shows lack of respect for other boxer punching power which makes him take unnecessary risk!! It's great to bang but you have to have ring smarts to know when to bang and PW doesn't have a high boxing IQ!!!!!!:-(

Boo made a good point in saying most elite boxers would'nt get hit with a shot like that!!!!!

Williams has no defense, doesn't have top 10 power in his division and has terrible fundamentals...he gets by with his height and high punch rate.

He's always been overrated and has his **** sucked too much by fools like PimpC and other Afro-worshiping groupies on this site.

In a rematch, Cintron would wash Williams.

You are an ignorant *****. PWill got caught with a punch he didn't see. Pacman, been koed twice and Sergio was koed before too. Most of the all time greats were koed similar to PWill and had great careers. I admit PWill needs to fight his size more and get better defensive but to say he done is pure shytt.

Name calling? Did I offend you by clear stating the truth about Williams? Seems like you're the one BITCHING and texting some ignorant statements. Don't project yourself in others.

Williams has no defense and he got caught with the same punch twice before he got knocked out cold. Re-watch the fight and stop ordering William's HBO fights as beat off material. Sergio Martinez was throwing the same pattern combos that ended with the left hand...MULTIPLE TIMES. Martinez knew Williams would not adjust, and Williams failed as expected. Williams is probably the most hard headed boxer in the game today. Check his Quintana lost. Once his plan fails, he doesn't know how to adjust.

Williams is FAR from an all time great, and he's not even top 20 P4P. His career will go down hill from here unless he can SHOW he can defend himself.

The only advantage he has was reach and size? really? Considering the man almost never uses his reach, that can be thrown out.

How about the fact that he threw non stop for the entire 12 rounds? Having stamina and the ability to swarm opponents. Thats not just 'a given', not every fighter can go out there and put on that kind of activity rate.

The guy didnt beat Margarito just because of his 'size', and he didnt equal Martinez in their first fight because of 'size'. He brings a lot more advantages then that to fights....

His "glass jaw" didn't seem to be a hinderance in any of his other fights, I mean the man has fought and beaten some damn good fighters to include the guy who everyone seems to consider the #3 P4P in the world. I'm not saying he's Ali but the man obviously has talent and has proven to be a World Class Fighter. I don't know that he needs to change anything, what he's been doing has worked out pretty well for him up to this point.
