Will Pavlik face any of the other middleweight champs soon?

Right now here are the current champions in the middleweight division:

    WBC/WBO/The Ring: Kelly Pavlik
    IBF: Arthur Abraham
    WBA: Felix Sturm

Will we see a series of unification fights among these three candidates to get a unified and undisputed Middleweight Champion again. I know Pavlik is taking on Hopkins next and Abraham is fighting a mandatory. God knows who Sturm is facing? It would be nice to have a unified champion.

Sturm will lose his title to Sylvester later this year. So still two germans but just other name.

Pavlik/Abraham is tenatively scheduled for late January 09. I do not remember the exact date, but HBO penciled it in months ago.

However, I think that after Pavlik/Hopkins and Calzaghe/Jones we may see some new developments. Pavlik will beat BHop and Slappy Joe will beat Roy Jones. Who knows, maybe Calzaghe will remember where he left his balls, and decide to fight Pavlik after all. If that happens we may never see a Pavlik/Abraham unification fight. I just can't see Kelly move back to 160 after fighting 3 out of 4 fights above 160.

The Felix Sturm fight is a pointless fight for him but Abraham would be good. Once Hopkins decisions Pavlik that fight will be perfect for the Ghost.

For sure, Sturm would be a joke he needs to fight King Arthur.

I hope Pavlik and Abraham will face each other early next year.

    No one needs Sturm.

A fight with "double A" would be great.

I doubt it. Arum doesn't seem to like the look of a prime guy that can punch and take this train off the rails. All these excuses about building Abraham up - what the hell do you think hes going to be, Oscar? Pavlik is the draw.

So instead they take on the old guy coming off a loss thinking its easy prey. Big mistake.

The situation at 160 right now is just crazy. Here's an example. The McGirt kid scored a very wide UD over Raymond Joval the other night. Joval was a top 10 contender. Normally if a youngster steps up and beats a top 10 guy, you start thinking about a title shot. However, the gap in ability between Pavlik and Abraham, and the rest of the division is so HUGE, I just can't imagine any of these guys being competitive with Pav or AA.

Raul Marquez is Arthur's mandatory after derailing Lorenzo who was the #1 contender. However, in the fight just pryor to Lorenzo, Mckart held Marquez to a draw!

Winky might be the one exception, but Winky keeps accusing everyone of ducking him when the tuth is, Winky is ducking boxing itself!

160 just makes me go:patsch :nut :patsch

So that is why Kelly has been calling abraham out since before he beat JT? It must also be why the two sides agreed to a fight, and HBO penciled in a date, almost immediately after Pavlik won the title. In your world that probably makes sense:patsch

Yes its very poor those two aside, at least you can see the wood for the trees unlike Vincent who desperately tries to convince himself this is the division it used to be.

Look at that Lorenzo kid. He was supposed to be one of the hottest prospects, and got clowned by an old junior middle vet. John Duddy looked like he needed surgery after fighting a Canadian bar brawler. It's terrible ****.

They need to get Pavlik-AA on.

I'm pretty certain that even if Pav moves up we will still see Pavlik/Abraham. It might be later than we hoped and at 168, but it'll happen. However, if Calzaghe decides on 1 more fight after Jones, and agrees to fight Pavlik, one could hardly blame Kelly for putting off a fight with AA.
