Kelly is the MW Champ.. His camp is supposed to be confident about what he can do to a WW fighter. Nothing out of the ordinary. But that doesn't necessarily translate into being able to shove a shitty deal down someone's throat.

70-30 is ****ing ridiculous, considering that Williams drew almost as many people to Atlantic City as Pav drew in his hometown.

I'm not talking 70/30. That is as ridiculous as 50/50 co-promotion in my opinion. The last contract offer is still on the table. All I'm saying is a Martinez fight could make a Williams fight less attractive. Kelly needs to gain momentum again. A good win over Martinez does that. A good win over Sturm would do that. If the fight doesn't happen now I think it becomes a lot less likely in the future unless Williams decides to stay at MW. I think we both feel that is at least one weight class above where he should be right now. I don't know who Paul would fight for any where near the same money now?

I said it before, and I'll say it again. Goosen could ask Team Pavlik and Top Rank to put $500K in escrow, and if Pavlik pulls out, Goosen/Williams get that money. That would be fair and justified. However, that is not what they ask for. Goosen did not "ask" for anything. He DEMANDED a 50/50 co-promotion. The difference between asking for what is fair, and demanding something silly ought to be obvious to everyone. Goosen and Haymon know Bob Arum. They know how to make a deal with him, and they know how to **** him off.

Dan Goosen, George Peterson, and the entire boxing media claimed PW is the most feared fighter in the world. Goosen, Peterson, and PW claimed Paul could beat anybody from 147-168. Peterson said "Paul doesn't need to change anything. Pavlik's chin is grade A china. He'll just step to him and knock him out." PW got his face butchered buy 154 pounder with a 50% KO ratio. Pavlik stopped a guy who had never been stopped before, and now, with the biggest pay day of his career on the table, Paul Williams is just a welterweight. Wake up people. This one is a no-brainer.

Finding Quality opponents for either KP or PW is hard at this point but IMO PW has more options than KP because of his willingness to move up and down!

Besides KP fighting PW his only other "interesting" fight would be against SM at this point, so when you think of it KP really needs PW more and i'm certain Team Williams knows this!

escrow idea sounds fair. it gives an assurance to paul and doesnt punish kelly at the same time.

the weight moving thing is kind of a myth when it comes to williams' options. he's at this weight b/c he couldnt get a decent fight at ww. not his fault of course, but its true. and since he just beat winky and sergio, i think it will only be that much harder for a ww to want to dance w/ him.

he has sergio at jmw....and a couple of lesser guys which won't make him much money.

kelly and paul need eachother to maximize the payday. its the fight w/ the most hype around it. neither has anything close that they can turn to.

You see why always bring up the fact that Hopkins beat the living sh*t out of KP and that Bhop was 15 years past his prime!!

Thats gonna be their biggest pay days but If PW fought any MW at this point he would have a bigger draw than KP on TV or at the venue!

Asking Pavlik/Arum to put some money in escrow is the one fair method of dealing with the situatation. However, the Williams camp does not seem to be interested in fairness. In my opinion they just want to preserve PW's "most feared fighter" moniker without risking a career threatening ass whoopin'.

Williams said Pavlik "doesn't have a hand problem. He has a heart problem." And, "it's seperation anxiety. He doesn't want to be seperated from his titles." Peterson made all those ridiculous china chin statements, and out right accused Pavlik of faking the hand injury.

On December 19th Pavlik stood in the middle of the ring and said, "Paul Williams, you're not the most feared fighter in the world. You got a guy right here in Youngstown Ohio that wants you." On Decemer 20th Paul Williams became a welterweight. That's a pretty dramatic shift.

Goosen used the fact he pissed Arum off over the Pavlik negotiations to offer Arum a contract to fight Margarito knowing full well it would be rejected after what he pulled. Then he could claim Paul was 'avoided' when in fact it was Goosen that Arum was avoiding. Yeah, Arum shut him out of WW pretty much for that stunt. Now Margarito and Cotto aren't the options they used to be. Clotty will be fighting Pac. I've always said I'd like to see Mosely/Williams but Mosely wants none....

Again, you are quoting Arum-speak as if it is pure fact. You can;t base an entire argument on the words of Bob Arum... It just isn't sound principle.
