I wonder what his analysis was of the Hopkins mess? Too bad Kelly wasn't 100% that night. But even still, he had to realize that he needs to work on some things.

So will it be the same KP who just keeps coming & firing until the big one lands or will we see some lateral movement, more head movement, more hooking off his jab? Things like that...I'm sure we'll still see that bazooka of a right hand, though.

And I wonder if Jack Lowe has thought about his role in guiding Kelly though rough times, should they arise again in the future?

    :think

Anyway...Feb. 21 is coming & I'm excited about seeing a HEALTHY Pavlik put a hurtin' on Rubio.

    (((((((((((KP by KO))))))))))

I think you guys are right. He'll be determined to lok good out there, thats for sure. I wouldn't want to be Rubio, although his style is similar to KP's & he could make it fun for awhile.

Even if he has some new tricks, he won't need them for this fight and I don't think it will go long enough for him to try them if he has them.

I also think Loew has taken him as far as he can. The Hopkins fight showed that if KP's plan A doesnt work, then they are in trouble.

yeah i really hope kelly uses this fight as last hurrah with jack....a hometown farewell sort of....although im sure jack will always be around and on kellys payroll.....but i dunno...not sure kelly really likes the idea of going away for a training camp

I get this feeling too but you have to make some sacrifices in order to achieve what he wants. I also think this should be his last fight with Jack but that aint happening.

i also wondered who would be the best trainer out there for KP? :huh

He is not the type of person to mesh with the Mayweathers i think and Roach is too busy with Pac and other big names.

Pavlik is going to KO Rubio. I have no doubt about that.

But going back to original question posed by the thread. Will Pavlik show us anything new?

I say there is no way he can... Let me explain.

Losses if handled correctly can always be a good thing. A learning experience so to say. But Pavlik refuses to take his defeat with dignity. And its sad really...because if you cant admit defeat, how can you ever learn from it?

He said he was sick and injured going into the fight and Im not saying he wasnt, but what I am saying is, himself and his team are playing it up and making it worse than it was. They are using THIS as the excuse, rather than working on the reasons why he actually lost (terrible job from Loew in the corner and Kelly's inability to deal with different angles or get his offense off when not set).

If he cant admit these things to himself (and if he continues to lean on the crutch of the health issue), how can he learn from the Hopkins fight?

He will still win...and win big...but until he and his team can learn from their mistakes and shortcomings, he wont become better or ever really be able to "show us anything new".

Good post. I think maybe KP just wants to forget the whole ordeal & put it out of his mind, if possible. He can still learn from the loss. He's not a dummy who would totally erase the experience from his mind.
