Pavlik got schooled by Hopkins but i don't think he was paying enough attention in class to learn much. We'll probably see the same Pavlik that tore threw the Middleweight Division and the fight against Rubio should be back to basic's. This fight will be all about putting some confidence back into him and i don't think we will see anything new here, Wait until he's facing the top boy's like Abraham and Williams when he will probably need a little extra something or at the very least a plan B.
Abraham has almost no chance against Pavlik. Some of the guys Kelly beat in '05 and '06 are better than most of what's on Abraham's resume'. The first time Arthur tries to cover up on the ropes or hide in a corner, it's over. Williams is a good fight, but he does not use much head movement and he often holds his right down very low. That's a recipe for distaster. Simply put, it means KP can get the double jab/right hand working, and no fighter against whom Kelly made that work lasted more than 8 rounds.
I wouldn't mind seeing KP box Rubio's ears off for several rounds. If they made it play out right it could be pretty cool. Kind of like the Pierre fight where Leow literally told Kelly, "Okay, knock him out," and Pav promptly did as he was told:yep Of course Rubio is a much better fighter than Pierre, but they are back in Youngstown for the first time since that fight. And doing that after seriously dominating Rubio for 6 or 7 rounds would be pretty damn cool. I really don't expect to see anything new, because it just isn't needed. Rubio could not knock Ornales down, but McKart knocked him down twice. That means Rubio has nothing to keep Kelly off of him. Rubio's chin isn't that great either. That's not a promising combination.
I'd Agree with your statement that Abraham's resume isn't great but to say he has no chance against Pavlik is stretching it. The guy is one tough ******* and smart, combined with a lethal left hook and a pretty good chin I think he will prove to be a great opponent for Pavlik, Certainly better than anyone Pavlik beat in '05 and '06.
Zuniga is better than everyone of Abraham's resume'. Eastman is a good name, but he was pretted faded by the time AA fought him. Abraham/Eastman went the distance. Miranda stopped the same version in 7. Arthur could have fought Zunga, but Sauerland opted for Elvin Ayala. Here, check this out. It was a great thread. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117262&highlight=pavlik%2Fabraham%3A+closer
I dont know about the subject? They were quoted RIGHT after the fight in the locker room saying he had issues with an injury and an illness. This was before the article came out. There are limitations to what Jack Loew can do as a trainer...he showed that by coming into a fight against one of the smartest fighters to ever enter a ring with ONLY ONE GAMEPLAN!!! His health would not have helped him deal with the angles that continuously kept him off balance. His health also would not have helped him throw a punch when not able to set. These are things that he ALWAYS struggled with against fighters 1/1000th the fighter Hopkins is at using angles and keeping his opponent off balance. His health OBVIOUSLY effected him during the fight, but to say it was the main reason is an insult to Hopkins and what Hopkins did that night. Bernard was the MAIN reason he lost that night....cmon...
Serious question: Are you one of Pavlik's managers? Your strategy to proclaim that Williams is the man to beat and not AA is clever, but won't help to distract from the fact that Pav (or his management - I don't care) ducks King Arthur...
At this point, if Kelly fights his usual fight and will be 100% after the mentally tough loss and the physically tough moving down in weight, should win easily and convincingly, so at this point, I'd be satisfied with the same ol'Pavlik. It's the tougher fights he'll need to show something new.
From what ive seen of him this guy Rubio is made for Pavlick. He will regain some confidence with a ko win early but if he has learned anything new since the Hopkins fight i doubt he will be in the ring long enough to show us against this guy.
What evidence do you have that Jack hasn't done all that can be done with Kelly? He took to the ring sick and ended up with a loss. Jack may have tuned Kelly to take best advantage of what Kelly has. One loss and it is Loew's fault? Boo has pointed out numerous times you probably can't turn Kelly in a guy that bounces on his toes and dances around.
Pavlik fought Zuniga, Zertuche, Miranda, Taylor X 2, and Hopkins, but he's going to duck Abrahamatsch Stop sniffin' glue my man. The brain damage is starting to show:yep Williams is not "the man to beat" and I never claimed he was. However, in the USA, the winner of Wright/Williams is a bigger fight than Arthur, especially if Winky wins. A lot of us who are Pavlik fans have waited YEARS for Pavlik/Wright, and so has Kelly.
