Will Pavlik show us anything new this time?

Pavlik/Williams may be a bigger fight in the US, But Pavlik/Abraham is the fight i want as a European fan of Pavlik, and as for Pavlik/Wright that feels like a year or two on the Late side.

Well, when I think 'technical fight' and sleeves I think 'gi'. So, we are in for some MMA? Pipe really wants the fight to go a few rounds because of the tickets he has. I'm older. The sooner Rubio drops, the earlier I get to bed.

You're correct. Pavlik/Wright is a year or two late, but that's Winky's fault. If Winky beats Williams, Kelly fighting him may be a now or never situation. Put AA in a co-feature, and you've got a great build up. Pavlik/Abraham should be a boxing EVENT rather than just another fight hardcore fans want. It deserves a good build up.

I think KP has the tools to expand his arsenal and become a more well rounded fighter without changing his style too much
I remember some years back, you saw an evolution of barrera from just a straight slugger
IMO the best thing for KP would be to work on footwork and hooking off the jab a little
but he has very good fundamentals already

Good post. I would LOVE to see a Pavlik - Abraham co-feature to set up a showdown.

I dont think Winky stands a chance against Williams tho. His defense is predicated on his shell, which is good to set up his counters and easy to get into after his jab...but is bad against a fighter with an outrageous output like Paul. Winky will cover up when Williams punches and look to counter off of his mistakes...but how often can you counter out of a shell against a fighter who doesnt stop throwing?

Also, think about Winky for a second. He is 37 and fought his entire career at 154-160. He moved up to 170 in his last fight, lost and took almost 2 years off and is now jumping in the ring with one of the 10-15 best fighters alive without even taking a tune up...a fight that is going to be 10 lbs less than where he was in his last fight. If history has taught us anything, fighters going DOWN in weight at such an advanced age RARELY works out to be beneficial.

I hate to see Winky go out like this...but I dont think he is going to finish the fight. Either he gets stopped or his corner does it for him. Paul Williams is the wrong guy for Wright to take on at this stage in his career.

Any hints of Pavlik/Abraham in this? Pavlik has a good work rate and fundamentals and REACH.

Oookay, not sure if you were either asking how I feel Kelly and Arthur would fare against Winky or you didnt understand why I was talking Winky - Williams in this post.

    :huh

F-it, Ill just answer both for ya...gotta be one of them...

1- I think they both stop Winky at this point in his career.

2- I spoke about the Williams fight because I was quoting booradley's post about the Winky-Williams winner taking on Pav in a co-feature (meaing they both fight different people on the same card).

Just some of the things you said about Williams/Wright I though "might" apply to Abraham/Pavlik. AA likes to go into that shell and look for mistakes. I 'almost always' know what I'm thinking. Just doesn't convert sometimes.

Fair post. Logic would tell us Winky probably has little chance of winning, but I'm still going to be rooting for him. Winky has been off for quite awhile. To me the big question is; Did Winky rest, or did Winky rust? Winky Wright at 75% is a better fighter than Paul Williams. If Paul doesn't keep his freaking hands up, Winky could give him all kinds of trouble.

I also think a Winky win would do more for the division than a Williams win. If Winky wins, everybody jumps and shouts; "Holy ****! The Winkster has still got it! Bring on Pavlik/Wright. Make Winky and AA fight an eliminator. blah blah blah" If Williams wins, he beat an old and shot light middle. Boxing fans are like that!

Pavlik by knockout..There is nothing in any fight at 160 that shows Kelly will lose this fight...He is by far the superior fighter..Rubio has a punchers chance if he lands something clean and flush (basically lucky) he'll win..pavlik by knockout in the 6th

I think Rubio's KO ratio is a bit deceptive. He couldn't take Ornales out, or even knock him down. McKart knocked Ornales down twice in a fairly recent fight.

    Yeah, Sounds good.
Abraham could get some good US exposure, Who do you think he should fight?

Who Abraham should fight if he were to appear as the co-feature on a Pavlik card is quite a question. The winner of Miranda/Lorenzo will be Arthur's next mandatory, and I kind of expect Lorenzo to beat "the other Miranda." If the card were to take place in June, just put AA against Lorenzo on there. Lorenzo wouldn't cost much, and he'd make AA look like a monster.
