will people give Khan credit?

I must admit I have not been the biggest fan of Khan, his constant spouting of bull****( I could beat Mayweather in a 4 rounder right now), coupled with his reluctance to fight anyone who might pose a slight threat put me right off the guy.

That being said he finally seems to be stepping up to the plate, and although Barrera was obviously way past his best, Kotelnik seems like a legit fight IMO and many people seem to be prediciting a Khan loss in this one.

So, if Khan does pull off the win, will everyone start giving him some credit or will people still look for reasons to discredit the opponent despite the majority saying it is going to be a tough fight at the moment?

Personally, I dont think Im ever going to like the guy, but if he wins this fight and then goes on to defend against decent opposition, then fair do's to him, he will have proved the doubters wrong and will have done incredibly well considering his chin handicap.:thumbsup

I'm glad that if he beats Kotelnik, he will have to face top 10 contenders. Once you are a champ, you can fight weaker opposition but you can't guide your career unless you give up the belt.

    salita
    maidana
    ortiz
    pac
    khan
    hatton
    campbell
    ion
    cayo
    holt

that is the top 10 wba rankings. i wouldn't mind khan defending against many of those names should he beat kotelnik.

    I'll certainly give him credit.
I can understand why he rubs some people the wrong way - the hype he was getting, along with his arrogance, is enough to put anyone off.
However, he's stepping up in weight to fight a very capable world champion - I don't see how anyone could reasonable be critical of this fight.
If he wins, he's set the bar as to the level of opposition he should be facing - and if he starts fighting world-class opposition regularly then he'll have my respect, win or lose.

If he beats Kotelnk, it'll be a good solid win but afterwards I'll still be of the opinion that his chin will catch him out sooner rather than later.

This is indeed a big step up in class and weight, from fighting mostly blown up feathers from 130 to fighting a decent full 140 fighter. If Khan wins then it might get some people off his back, but some people no matter what Khan does in the ring he will still get stick.

I agree with you Gaz. It will be a good win but Khan will get KO'd again. Kotelnik's not much of a puncher anyway....then again neither was Willie Limmond ;)

Despite everything Khan fought a legend in his 20th bout and genuine title fight in his 21st bout, and this is despite having being brutally ko'd. I have to hand it to him, despite him avoiding Murray and Thaxton.

I'm no hater of Khans but I don't give much credit for taking on MAB at that stage of his career. A win over Kotelnik will be a FAR better result IMHO.

    Agreed

The only thing that has pissed me off about his words, moves and dealings so far was the Limond KO. Then again it aint his fault the ref **** himself regarding his pension.

Always credit here, he wants to fight.....end off.

He should get alot of credit if he wins but he needs to defend against some good fighters once he has the belt.

'all the legends/all time greats' didn't have glass chins. At world class level the fighters will be better and will be more likely to find Khan's chin. Even Pernell Whitaker with all his defensive skills got tagged on his chin. When Khan gets hit against even a decent puncher he will go down.

So what, if he does he does, he brings entertainment to you, i and the next person. Sick of all this chin **** tbh.

He goes down, he gets up......when he can. Fair play to the boy.

Comparing fighters/legends from these days and past days isnt the same. Promoters/Money/Coverage........back "in the day" a promoter would throw there biggest talent to anyone.

    Not these days

If he beats Kotelnik i will have to give him credit as i think Kotelnik is a damn good fighter. Although i would like to see a definitive victory and not one of Khans flurry and the ref jumps in or the bull**** stoppage over Barrera.

I think Kotelnik will win but i still give credit to Khan for stepping up a division and fighting a good fighter.
