Will Peterson's team screw themselves now that they got the belts?

I read online Barry Hunter, Peterson's trainer/manager baulking at the idea of a rematch ... talking about it's a business. I seriously hate when guys get belts and then their management screws them out of big money fights and future earnings.

There's absolutely no other fighter on this planet that will give Peterson a shot for as much money as he has made against Khan and there is no way that he'll headline a fight on HBO again. The other time he was on HBO he stunk out the joint and wasn't called back again. I don't know why they are looking at Bradley ... that guy can't sell tickets and they won't even get the lions share of the purse ... and they won't be on HBO because that's not a fight they would accept. I cant see Peterson making 1/4 of what he made against Khan against anyone else.

This will be just like Bradley ... this guy seriously thinks he's going to fight Pacquiao ... that'll never happen ... he's going to be groomed for another TopRank fighter with a stronger following, who has more upside.

    Thoughts?????

They're focused on the money ... he's not going to get Morales to meet their demands ... Morales is the bigger draw and more recognized name ... he'll probably have to go to Mexico or to Vegas to fight. No more fights in DC.

If Khan keeps whining, he may not be able to put enough asses in seats to offer what Peterson wants.

Bradley is a revenge/unification match. HBO will pay for that to be aired.

Lamont is not obliged to take a rematch with Khan, at least not immediately anyway. i think he is entitled to one or two showcase fights, before another big fight is on the horizon.

For all the talk khan is giving he better be paying peterson nicely in the rematch, that boys mouth gonna cost him.

I think Khan was done wrong by the ref ... Peterson wasn't warned for the use of his head and that's illegal ... Khan beat the hell out of Peterson for more than 6 rounds and to be fair, should've won with the points taken off ... you have to convincingly beat the champion. For all its worth, in a rematch Peterson gets stopped.

I think that with this leverage they have team Peterson should look to rematch Khan and get more money !! ... Not look for other avenues because they're champion ... and it's not like he knocked Khan down or out.

I don't know who's going to showcase any of Peterson's fights as a headliner ... maybe ESPN but he's not going on any major network. He's not going to make as much money as he did fighting against Khan against anyone else. I think sports careers are too short ... he runs too many risks trying to do too much. You see what happen to Zab Judah before his fight with FLoyd ... he straight played himself !!

I think HBO would be happy to televise Peterson-Bradley.

However, I do agree it would be a shame if Peterson decides not to give a rematch. The first one is too controversial/close to ignore for any other fight which wouldn't generate anywhere near the interest that a second fight with Khan would.

But with that said, Khan's team must give Peterson a fair offer.

Khan was not done wrong at all, he was pushing with the elbow on numrous occasions, getting LP in headlocks because he cant fight on the inside as a means to neutralize his opponents attack and the ref called him up on it throughout, that ref was actually quite good. how often do you see fights get wrecked because the fighters want to grab each other and hold, when we have a bonafide ref who wants to fight out of clinches people moan.:patsch

They had around 6 rounds a piece throw in the points deductions and you have lamont a clear but close winner.

That last but one comment is a myth, if you win the round you win the round, the champion does not get the benefit of the doubt and it does not state this in the rulebooks either.

Peterson is the unified champion at LWW and has just beaten one of their potential superstars in a good fought war. They will be grabing his hand off to see him in action.

He may make as much money fightinbg tim bradley but that would mean arum having to put the money in the pot too sweeten it up.

Many fighters are just foolish with their money.

Anything more than what he made in the first fight is fair because it's a career high payday ... it has to be balanced ... 50/50 ... I don't care what anyone says ... it shouldn't matter about anything else. Peterson isn't the draw and he doesn't have much leverage other than he beat Khan.

I don't think HBO would put on Bradley v Peterson ... Bradley smoked Peterson easily and would likely do it again ... I think Bradley v Khan is more like it ... then have Peterson face someone like Matthysee or Brandon Rios ...

Okay let's quit crying about how you think Khan was done wrong, he lost end of, now I think its in Lamonts best interest to rematch Bradley instead, Lamont has already turned down what would have been his biggest payday vs khan once so money isn't his whole motivation...

If Lamont rematches Bradley and wins he will undoubtedly be the best 140lber in the game, if he unified that means in a Khan rematch he will get even more money than if he gives him an immediate rematch and also be able to dicate other terms to a degree...

In my opinion if Lamont does rematch Khan right away and its close he will not get the nod this tome around so he may as well avenge his only loss, that would do wonders for his career...

I would like to see Bradley-Peterson rematch which would be just as big as a Peterson-Khan rematch IMO. You really can't fault Lamont if he went after Bradley instead.

Not at all ... I can't ... I just believe Bradley will win ... nothing has changed since then ...

Peterson will get outboxed and overwhelmed ... the good thing about the rematch between Bradley and Peterson would be the WBO belt and Ring belt added to the mix.

Add to that, it may pressure Khan to stay in the division and for him and Bradley to be forced to fight each other. And since Khan is with Golden Boy he can pic up the WBC strap against the Morales v Garcia winner.

I think whenever a average guy gets a belt in a talented division, its exciting times . He'll sell a few tickets after he beats Khan a second time. Although, I doubt hell be keeping the belt over a year.
