Will RJJ teach Anderson Silva a boxing lesson, or will Silva embarrass him?

I was talking of them as far as boxing ability goes! Not as Mixed Martial Artists.
Ofcourse, Rodrigo was by far the more decorated Mixed Martial Artist.
But Rogerio's boxing has always been much better.
But as I said, at one point... Rodrigo's got quite good for a heavyweight (mma-heavyweight that is!!).

    I <3 the nogueira brothers.
Someone I know trained there for a year recently, minotoro training centre aka 'team nogueira' in rio. & Rodrigo is one of my 2 greatest, most inspirational heroes in MMA.

    randy & rodrigo.

regarding: " His BJJ is the best BJJ I have ever seen to work effectively in an MMA fight."

how much MMA have you actually watched, then?
While the king of BJJ at heavyweight & one of the kings of pulling out submissions (and come from behind submissions!) in MMA... his bjj is not the single-best in MMA ...just straight away: Maia's by far trumps Nogueiras and anyone else currently in a big organization... even Jacaré's! (though that's a fight i want to see!). also. Aoki aka crazypants has a very effective guard (he plays rubber guard).

(and as someone who trains bjj, trust me!.. there are far better ppl on the jiujitsu circuit.. who are only just crossing-over into MMA: Maia one of them who has been in slightly longer.. Jacaré too... Xande Ribeiro has just started...& then there are others-- just wait until Drysdale gets going!!!).

Jones Jr. would blast him out.
(Jones feasts on mediocre fighters & part time boxers)

you still don't get it, do you!
As a Marquez fan, I thought you'd have more intelligence than that.

Now, clearly.. you can tell the difference between boxing (the sweet science) and 'MMA striking'.... so it seemed that you were insinuating that you were gaging 'effectiveness'.... that if Jones beats Silva, it proves what is more 'effective' <-- now that's where the ignorance comes into it.

Implying that a win for roy would show that boxing is more effective (i.e. mma striking is not boxing's equal as a striking art) is naive.

& also is ignorant of the fact there is no stand-up style called 'mma striking' -- you bring to the standup game in MMA.. whatever you want & can.

From a left-hook in boxing to a spinning back kick out of TKD.. to the Muay Thai clinch & knees from the deadly 8-limbed art of Muay Thai... & so on.

It's ignorant on what MMA striking encompasses & also suggests ignorance of the environment + variables within the sport of MMA...

Boxing in MMA is not the same as the sport of Boxing.

someone like juanito ibarra may be able to help enlighten you.

Silva went 1-2 or 1-1 in his short Boxing career. Jones is a legend (not the same that he once was) who even at this stage in his career will KO Silva rather early.

Jones is going to beat Silva easily. I'm more interested in Roy Jones Jr in an MMA fight with Silva because I'm less confident in that outcome.

I'm looking forward to that Cyborg-Carrano fight and I like boxing a lot more than MMA. That fight tells you something.:good

If we were talking about THE Roy Jones Jr., circa 1996-'98, than this thread would be unnecessary. Roy would kill this guy, literally. BUT, unfourtantly for boxing, we are talking about the 40 year old version. I just don't think Roy is the best candidate to represent the sport against a MMA legend like Anderson Silva in something this important. If Silva beats Roy(worse if he knocks him out), that is a REALLY BAD look for boxing.

Im a fan of both MMA and boxing. Silva only wins by fluke. Dont sweat it.

Well, I wouldn't call it fluke. I mean if he throws a punch... he's not aiming for the air, now is he? If it lands & puts Roy out.. it does. Not a fluke, just an unlikely occurance with regards to a knockout! & it would be as much a Roy ****-up as a good shot from Anderson.

but again, it does not prove anything either way!
Only idiots take this to show anything... regardless of the winner.
