Maybe down the line, but not right away at least. There was a rematch clause like there always is for a non-mandatory and even in a lot of mandatory defenses. There's no trilogy clause. First they have to handle the overdue mandatory situation, if that's even still possible (save what can be saved). Then there's the whole unification option and maybe then a 3rd fight.
If Ruiz loses then he'd be set to face guys like Parker/Whyte/Chisora and the likes to get another title shot. He will get another chance if he loses and gets wins against top 15 guys.
Ogh yeah, he will stay in the picture for sure. Might not be an immediate rematch, but he still has some money to make.
I think he could possibly be in line to fight the winner of Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury, scheduled for Feb 22 2020. Also depends on his showing against Anthony Joshua.
Depends on the loss imo, should he go out in 4/5 rounds, I doubt it (although he should). If it's highly competitive with AJ getting a late stoppage/close decision he'll probably be looking at one mid 2020. Also, I think it's more than likely we'll get Joshua Ruiz 3 (should Josh win tonight) than us getting Fury-Joshua or Wilder-Joshua next year, as let's be honest, no one there is easy to deal with and there probably gonna have their own trilogy.
HW triology? Zero chance! How many have we had in the history of HW boxing? You have to go back decades to find one. Also, you need 2 big names for this to happen and Ruiz aint a big name. If I was pushed I'd say the only possible trioligy I can see happening is Wilder v Fury.
It depends how he looks in his losing effort. If its a close fight then yes public demand probably geta him a third fight. If he gets blown out of the water early after pulling the big upset in the first fight I doubt he will.
Bowe vs Holyfield was a Trilogy! who did the ROIDS tests in this one? got a couple Roiders on this card!
If he gets kod in the first round or so then Tyson Fury will be straight on the phone to his manager.. Fact.
