He's only 19. If you're worried about his height he has about 3 moar years to grow.

he will be a star if he sorts out his defense he was throwing some beautiful combos against cotto and showed some real class just looks a bit vunerable which is not too strange seen as he is only 19 , wait until he gets his man strenght then he will be unstoppable

he will have the backing of the irish no doubt with that ginger mop of his

    Bump...

I Boxrec Saul Alvarez is now listed as a Jr. Middleweight (154lbs). Like I said (Thread-Starter) This kid is HUGE for a Mexican Fighter. Already 154lbs at 19 yrs old. The Older he gets the more he'll "fill-out". I am thinking maybe he'll settle in at 168lbs. And at 5'9, and just recently showed that his chin is just a little suspect by getting rocked by a fighter who began his career at 122lbs and just fought at 135lbs 3 fights ago.

Will Alvarez become a star? 160lbs-168lbs (which may end up being his Prime age weight..25-30 yrs old) is so deep and full of YOUNG TALENT...Only time will tell.

He'll be a star as long as Top Rank don't get their hands on him!

Looks like decent prospect, not sure about all the hype GBP is making over him TBH:huh Looked decent against cotto back in May and has held that NABF WW title for a bit too..... wanna see him step up his opposition but all in good time:D

I think it is too soon to tell honestly......You can have a young figher take on alot of bouts.....but still be untested he dosen't compete against a top fighter......

My only concern for him, given his age and speed that he is being spotlighted, on is that he may peak to soon.

Other than that, I second all the things you said, physically he is pretty big......

He's 19 some of you need to STFU and let him grow. Time will tell, he has all the right attributes to be a big star in the coming years.

You don't have to be a P4P-er to be a star.
