Sure, in late 2011 who is the thread more likely to be about?

The reigning middleweight champion and likely GOAT who just fought last weekend, avenging his last loss and extending his winning streak to a record-shattering 14? The one who has now annihilated all competition at MW and who has found success fighting at 205 before?

Or you can not even remember that Anderson exists, and assume that the thread is about the great of the past who has gone 2-6 in the last SIX YEARS, with 4 of those losses being by KO, and who was last seen months ago getting knocked out in less than 30 seconds by TUF reject Chris Leben?

This is just a perfect example of where your mindset is at. You live in the past and are FAR too invested in a certain band of fighters.

Yes, yes, you don't like me, I know nothing, everyone else is stupid, you're the expert. You know, for someone who is such a fan of the sport, you sure as hell spend a lot of time bitching and crying and complaining. :-(

If GSP were to lose it's because he's too small, right? That's the excuse that is being given in this thread anyway as to why the fight shouldn't go down. It goes both ways.

I don't know why anyone would want to see what they viewed as a mismatch unless they wanna see someone in particular get their ass kicked.

I'm not even asking for the fight.. I just got a strong opinion that Silva will win and GSP wants nothing to do with that man anytime soon for a number of reasons, some personal, and some not.

I think he will move up. Stann, Sonnen, Bisping etc all make for nice legacy defence. They'll give his career some depth but they are all underdogs. Silva is in the GSP zone at the moment. There are legit fighters to challenge him but he is too good for the divison. Him leaving the division would allow for a whole bunch of challenges amongst the top contenders.

GSP to 185, Silva to 205, similarly if Jones dominates like expected people will expect him to challenge at HW.

:lol: What a load of bollocks. Why do you find the need to write these crappy essays so you can validate your **** weak knowledge of MMA? Seriously who gives a ****?
You've managed to infer something from nothing and im the one crying and complaining?:patsch

As for not liking you? Really? I couldn't give two shits about you. I don't care much for your crappy internet persona. Or your disingenuous posts riddled semantic bull**** that only you care for. I don't know you from a can of paint nor do i care too. It's called indifference. Look it up some time.

And stop pretending you know something about this sport. It makes you look like a ****. Oh wait a minute...

Silva not moving up to 205 after a win against Sonnen and not taking on Hendo again, Evans, Rampage, Shogun and Bones will be an absolute tragedy for the sport of MMA and it's fan's. :|

We could see all those fight's but it appears that Zuffa wants to keep feeding the The Spider helpless flies at 185. :patsch

Imagine how excited the fans would be or each and everyone of those fights?

Not too long ago they had all the champs on stage and Silva looked way too big for him.

This photo reinforces it. So much bigger that you have to wonder if GSP even has the wrestling for the task.

GSP knows deep down what it is like wrestling with Nate, Rashad etc

Well obviously if GSP loses badly, there will be many who will say it's because of his size. I'm less concerned about those people as long as they mentioned it before the fight.
It's the Monday morning quarterbacks who are annoying. The ones who predict a GSP win, and then use the size excuse after a loss. (see BJ fans after GSP's second win. The one's who predicted Penn to beat George, but suddenly decided after the fight BJ was too small to be at welterweight and George was a big bully for beating him up)

That's really the point I'm making with Silva. I expect there would be droves of Silva fan's using the "past his prime" excuse should he lose to GSP (if the fight happened soon), even though they are currently predicting a lopsided win for their guy. That kind of after the fact **** is so annoying.

    Yep.

Well, I feel similarly to Silva not moving up and fighting Jones. I think he realizes he would be overmatched.

  8. Silva would never go to any division with elite wrestlers. So, he'll be retiring a mw.

At 185 I'd be interested in these fights:

    Sonnen II
    GSP
    Belfort II

At 205 I'd be interested in this fight:

    Henderson II

These are the four fights I'd like to see before Anderson retires. I'm not interested in Silva vs Jon Jones at all.

Stylistically, it's a terrible, terrible match-up for Anderson. Anderson Silva's only big weakness is his defensive wrestling. We've seen Chael Sonnen take him down at will and hold him down for the vast majority of 23 1/2 minutes. We've seen Travis ****ing Lutter take him down with one arm then get the mount on him. I don't see the interest in seeing this same guy fight someone who is so much bigger, stronger, faster, more powerful and more explosive than either Sonnen or Lutter. Jon Jones is potentially the greatest takedown artist in the world, I heard somewhere his TD ratio in the UFC is 100%. The guy handles world-class wrestlers (Bader, Hamill) like they were big fluffy teddy-bears. I'm much more of an Anderson Silva fan than I am a Jon Jones fan. Much more. I think Anderson is one of the top two MMA fighters ever, and the current p4p#1. I think Jones is becoming overhyped and I believe Machida could be the one to solve the Bones puzzle. However, stylistically this would not be a close fight. Jones would find it all too easy to take Silva down whenever he wanted, and keep him there. And Bones's GnP is a little bit more vicious than that of Sonnen and Lutter..............

To be honest, I wouldn't be massively interested in it either. On the surface it seems like a mismatch. And by the time it happens, Anderson will be another year older and slower, Jones will have another years worth of training and two more fights' worth of experience headlining cards against big names in the sport.

If Anderson could go up there and beat Jones then great. But he doesn't need to do it for his legacy, nobody could mark him down for not facing Bones, and I don't want to see 37 year old Anderson monstered and destroyed by Jon Jones.

Beat me to it. You gotta assume that Jones would not be interested in striking with Anderson, and so all signs point to him taking Silva down any time he feels like it and obliterating Silva on the floor.
