I think HBO was trying to enforce kessler vs Taylor on the 14 of march telling Taylors camp that frock wasnt their 1st choice but they failed.

Now chad dawson and tarver is set for that date instead - and Kessler still havnt got anyone to fight.

So what if it's in the UK?
Taylor has never fought ouside the USA,
He needs to prove himself in europe before he gets a fight against big European fighters, Just like dawson, Scared of getting his ass to Europe.
So I can see why mick doesn't want anything to do with taylor.
As far as I am concerned he is not proven just like dawson.
When he fights away and if he can win some good fights against good europeon opponents he deserves a shot, But not right now.

one thing that's clear is that Taylor will not let this go to purse bids. The challenger in purse bids gets something like 30% of the purse, and we know thats not gonna happen.

american fans miss out on very good fights because of american tv execs deciding what gets shown and what not to show.

i remember a few years back we had adamek v briggs 1

    fight took place in america.

    for the light heavy championship.

big fight, always predicted to be a real crowd pleasing tear up.

    big crowd/great atmosphere/barnstorming fight.

    guess what
american tv delined to cover it and it went out in america to an overseas audience only.

american tv boxing execs know **** all about boxing , they are number crunchers only.

the way i see it Setanta should step up to the plate and make a big money offer instead of HBO.

Hasn't Froch's promoter signed a deal with ITV though?
I do think that for the fight to happen it will have to be in the UK and they will have to pay Taylor some big bucks, I know he isn't the champion but he is the "name" and Froch will get more for beating him than Taylor will for beating Froch.

Your smartest, most accurate post to date! And I mean that as a compliment. There are MANY such examples. I keep hoping that Verses and ESPN will step up their boxing budgets, and blow HBO off the ****ing map! Look at Adamek/Cunningham; FOTY candidate, and Verses showed the fight. HBO's boxing program is run by a bunch of ******s!

we miss a few important fights, but we are not to badly serviced.

if you are a brit you can buy a moterised dish for european boxing, and have a sky dish to watch domestic and usa boxing.
    about 50 to 60% are covered .

itv are the bbc rival on free to air tv show domestic fighters like froch

we do not get fights like chris john in japan recently which i wanted to see .

but they are just the same IMO , they know **** all or very little about boxing.

biggest trouble uk sat stations have is that because of time zones live fights from america go out when everybody is asleep and it is hard to put up a big budget given the graveyard tv slot.

setanta IMO is a lot better than sky for boxing.

I cant see how Taylor vs an old, inactive, over sized, defensive Winky Wright is better than Taylor Vs a younger, hungrier, aggressive World champion...?:huh

HBO seem a lil short sighted, wouldnt it be better to have a show which has Taylor fighting for the WBC title, but on the undercard have Winky Wright fighting a solid WBC ranked contender, then if they both come through they can fight each other in a world title fight...

well why don't the british networks step up to the plate and offer big fights the money they deserve. Then they can make the fight happen at night on british time and still tap into a part of the american market on Saturday afternoons. When Pascal vs Froch was on, the bars in Montreal had alot of people watching
