In the past several days, two humiliating episodes have come to light in the negotiations for a potential Mayweather-Pacquiao superfight, one on each side of the possible deal. First, extended Team Mayweather member Richard Schaefer was made to look like a hypocrite on his and Mayweather's demand for Olympic-style blood testing from Manny Pacquiao. It came to light that Zab Judah had asked for similar testing from admitted steroid cheat Shane Mosley, another of Schaefer's fighters. Schaefer flatly refused Judah's request, and thus set himself up for the current public relations fiasco when this information regarding Mosley was unearthed. Not to be outdone, Team Pacquaio fell victim to their own public bumbling. It has emerged today that Pacquiao allowed himself to be blood tested just 14 days before his showdown with Ricky Hatton. This information is damaging because Pacquiao's camp had, apparently, just resettled on a 30-day-minimum deadline for pre-fight blood testing so as to not have their fighter supposedly negatively affected by such testing. That is, Team Pacquiao did not want Manny to be subjected to any blood tests within 30 days of the fight. However, if Pacquiao was tested just 14 days from the Hatton bout, and he still went on to knock the Mancunian out in just two rounds, it seems fairly certain that Pacquiao would not be adversely affected by taking a blood test two weeks out from a possible match with Mayweather. * With both sides having been humiliated very openly at their own hands, attention now turns to what would have to be done to get negotiations back on track and salvage the fight. It appears as though the next step is for Team Mayweather to file a formal petition with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) in order to seek the NSAC's sanctioned assistance in fulfilling Team Mayweather's demand for blood testing of Pacquiao. If such testing is, indeed, carried out by the governing body, it will be the first time in Nevada's storied boxing history that such a test would have been required of a fighter. With the protocols for seeking such an unprecedented test clearly established, the question for the thread is this: This content is protected Answer the poll above and let the world know your thoughts below in a post. :happy
They are a bunch of useless people. They surely know doping has changed and why do they insist on antiquated urine testing technics. Even now they want random urine tests so they can come back and claim they tested Manny and found nothing wrong. What's so difficult about doing a blood test, they could surely subcontract a laboratory and sent their staff to observe such tests being carried out?
