Thought I would make a thread to gauge what percentage of the British people here would support Khan and how many would support Maidana.

Its also interesting because the UK and Argentina have a bad history with the Falklands and Maidana said he in his mind this was not Khan -V- Maidana but England -V- Argentina, Its also interesting because Muslims especially Asians are not liked to say the least in the UK.

Most people I guess like myselfs are fans of boxing not fans of a particular fighter but if it was one or the other who will you be rooting for?

Khans english, so I reckon most of the english will get behind him...though he talks a lot of crap, twittering and bad mouthing other fighters...I'll be betting on, and rooting for Maidana...but I'm Irish!

Amir Khan has the second biggest fanbase behind Ricky Hatton.

Amir Khan has more fans than David Haye, real fans. David Haye will be left with nobody after he losers to Audley Harrison.

Amir Khan is the most high profiled british boxer, at the moment.

When Amir Khan fought in america, he took 1000's of fans over with him.

    **** off you ****.....

Khan's alot less hated here than you'd think based on these boards. His last fight over here he got a great reception.

I would say David Haye is bigger in the UK than Khan. Anyway on topic.. Ridiculous poll. Why would the British public support Maidana?

I'm not a Khan fan...i'm trying hard to back out british prospects nowadays, used to love seeing them lose because i always felt most had it given to them on a plate or didn't deserve hype but we got a great new batch who i like. Khan as a man i dislike as a fighter i used to admire but he's new style isn't pleasing. I don't rate Maidana so i'm really non plussed i expect Khan to win and win well although you just never know.

I don't think i be backing either man although Khan losing wouldn't upset me in the slightest.

Amir Khan is the Olympic Silver medalists. His early career, was all over domestic TV, prime time television. Before he ever won any belt, he was having Millions watching him. He had to deal with the pressure of a Champion as soon as he turned professional, he was a household name as soon as he won his Olympic Silver medal at 17 years old.

A total enigma, his next Amatuer fight was on ITV for ****s sake.

David Haye did not have millions watching him in his early career. Amir Khan prob did bigger numbers when he fought Prescott, than David Haye when he fought Enzo mac.

Amir Khan has a bigger following than David Haye. Nobody on the street, most average joes did not know who David Haye was until his fight with Valuev, and still he is not as big as Amir Khan.

Amir Khan no matter who he fights, and no matter where he goes will have thousands who are willing to fly out and support him. His last fight against the "Magic Man" at the weigh in, it was like when Ricky Hatton went to the USA..........
