Sorry to start another Haye-Harrison thread but I did a poll on a Villa forum about this fight. A football fans forum would be one that you would think would contain lots of "casual fans" right? Results so far: Will you pay £14.99 to watch this? Yes 0% [ 0 ] No 100% [ 33 ]
ofcourse they will and thats why the fights happening this outsells haye - adamek/arreola etc 2-1 imo
I suspect that you would get a similar result if you posted a "would you pay to watch Villa" poll on a hockey website :thumbsup
of course they will buy this fight, haye is a household name, say what you want about him, this fight is a money maker, haye and harrison = great pr, the press conferences will sell this fight alone, anybody that boycotts this fight is a liar cause they will be desperate to see the result as and when it happens, i know he has no chance but i think it would be ****in hilarious if harrison sparked haye, as much i like hayes style it would be hilarious
I don't think that's a great comparison, mate. Football and Boxing are sports where the fans often overlap, Football and Hockey aren't really.
You're missing the point. These are people who have paid for boxing in the past and will continue to do in the future, the people of ESB are not paying for Villa games on PPV.
A license to print money, because despite the fact A Fraud is a joke, people want to see him knocked out unconscious again. Haye is the man to do that. There are also some deluded casual fans out there, who think that his amateur success means something in the pros.
I think people may be overestimating the casual fans enthusiasm for this fight. Audley Harrison is the guy who nose dived boxing viewing figures so badly the BBC won't touch the sport anymore, and nobody was asking for 15 quid for those fights. It'll get alot of press but are people really that eager to see a guy who's already been sparked out get it again? I think it'll be a modest ppv success.
Harrison trebled Sky's Friday night boxing ratings...anybody who doesn't think casual fans won't buy this up with a spoon is deluded.
yeah i think it was rop that posted a while back the fugures for harrisons fights they were huge when you looked at who he was fighting and they were a huge jump on the ussual boxing figures
