I kinda laugh whenever I see comments about this fight making 2-3 million buys. I don't know where they're basing their opinion. I don't even believe it'll break a million.

It's a good fight no question but who's going to buy it. Hardcore fans? Sure! As far as I know boxing is not the same what it used to be. Majority of fans who buy are just casual nowadays and they are mostly latinos and asians not whites or blacks.

I don't see why the casual latino fans will support a fight where there's no latino fighter involved in the main event aside from the fact that this is going to be a "hide and seek" stinker type of fight instead of a "war" kind latinos love to watch. I believe that most of the fans buy to support their fighter and not simply to get entertained like hardcores do. That is why a boxer's race is important.

To be marketable, obviously the other fighter has to be a Latino because they are the major buyer of PPVs. Don't argue with me on this. Strong undercard will help but it's always the main event that sell.

hmm i disagree man the way they are promoting this **** its a sporting event not just a boxing match. Sports fans will be tuning in.

you do raise a solid question though which is who is the next mexican superstar who will carry the mantle for those millions of Mexican ppv buys. There's a gap to be filled there.

Blacks, along with Latinos, are the biggest buyers of boxing PPVs in the United States. How do you think Mayweather was able to do almost 1 mill against Hatton? Most of the highest selling ppvs of all time featured at least 1 black fighter.

Yes. Latinos are boxing fans in general. The need for a Latino fighter to be the featured attraction is greatly exaggerated.

You are severely misinformed... Blacks still follow boxing in this country, especially when a black fighter is involved. And this PPV will do closer to 3mil than it will to 1mil.

Mark that **** down... dumb ni99a.

I'm sure GBP is aware of the fact that Mexicans are a great chunk of the market here in the states. There will likely be a feature of Canelo or Marquez (hopefully both) on the undercard.

Plus, you're underestimating the effectiveness of the promotional money-machine that is Floyd Mayweather. On a much smaller scale, he has the same affect on boxing that Tiger Woods has on golf; his ESPN following will tune in for any big fight of his.

... I also disagree with your comment about Asians being a bigger piece of the market than Blacks.

I think this is a good point. I don't see this one breaking 2 million. 1.5 would be a good figure I think. I think the OP has a good point here.

An even better point might be the fact that both fighters are black. It's not a multicutural type event in that sense.

What brought the biggest PPV numbers out of 2 black fighters that wasn't a HW fight.

Older Latino boxing fans love them some Floyd Mayweather. Ask any of them and they will say that he reminds them of Ray Leonard. I know this from my dad and his friends.

Weird but its true. The fight will exceed 1 millions PPV buys no problem.

1 million, no problem. Why not 2?
