Will the extra muscle hurt or hinder Marquez against Pac?

Roach says that it's overall the right direction they should've taken, however maybe it was too much muscle too fast. He believes the added mass will make his punches wider, less precise, and that the overall move to increase mass is strategy designed less for counterpunching and more for to trade and bang.

He thought the Marquez camp would go the other route and rely more on speed to counter rather than adding so much mass for this fight.

Do you think the added mass will hinder his counter punching style and slow him down, or do you think it was the best move they could make to even the match up?

I think it was the best move for them to make. I've already said this before, but I don't think the extra weight will hinder his speed, what would worry me is his stamina.

I think it will help him early in the fight... if he survives until late in the fight, I think the added weight could slow him down and maybe even affect his timing

I think they will slow him down, a lot.

He will be even slower than he was against Mayeather.

I think he is counting on his power, for a knockout this time, knowing Pac's there to be hit.

If he doesn't gain the muscle he won't be strong enough to fight Pacquaio off
If he gains it he won't be fast enough to counter Pacquaio

    no win............Hope he wins though.

This is what I think as well. Early yes it will help him... his punches will more explosive, maybe just a slightly less accurate, unsure if that's true or not, though, however around round 6, the added mass will be a hindrance.

I agree he doesn't look like an NFL dback, but visibly it appears he put on a large amount of mass, around 12 to 16 weeks. I don't think he just started gaining 10 weeks in. That's quite an adjustment. He appears about have put on about atleast 8 pounds of muscle, considering the standard goal for a guy with decent test levels to gain mass at best (without prohormones or gear) is about 1 pound a month, that's quite a feat and a huge adjustment to make in such a short amount of time.

In the later rounds, he's gonna be slower... dunno how gassed he will theoretically his cardio will suffer in the later rounds.

We don't know exactly what they've done with JMM. We'll have to see him on the scales.

He normally weighs 145 on fight nights. This extra muscle that they appear to have been putting on him, could have allowed him to work slowly and effectively towards that 145. Kind of like what Pacquiao has been doing since his move to welterweight. He was a guy who'd weigh in the late 140s even back in his featherweight days. Instead of cutting all that weight and rehydrating after weigh in, he now enjoys the comfort of training to fight, as oppose to training to make weight.

Providing JMM's speed isn't hampered, this more muscle-bound 145 version of him could help him a lot.

PEDs can do wonders. Ask Pac. JMM should have used it sooner to get acclimated to his new strength and speed.

It didn't slow Manny down when moved up for Oscar, but he wasn't 40 either. I expect it to make Marquez more explosive early on, but it'll sap his energy faster too being that Manny will carry him fast. When RJJ added weight to fight Ruiz, he was still able to fight in spots. Had Roy fought a prime Jirov, he would've had alot tougher night. I expect Manny to stop him late.

If herdia gave him epo and iron he will amazing stamina. If he gave him testoterone and atp he will be even more explosive and powerful. If he did it natural he will gas due to the muscle. He will be stronger and explosive but slower due to the added muscle weight. Let's see what happens

Let them roid. I'd like to see Marquez beat Pac and effectively fight the winner of the S6.

Weight training is that is what he did and boxing usually dont mix. When i competed i tried the weights and it actually made me feel tight and fatigue in my arms where before i never did. When you do only aerobic exercises you tear your muscle outwards when you do wieghts you tear inward which is not good for an aerobic sport.

It could slightly slow him down but the timing will still be there imo. Without it he wouldn't be strong enough to deal with Pacquiao anyway
