Will the hype for Hatton-Pac be anything like they hype for Floyd-Hatton?

    In the UK that is.

For Mayweather-Hatton they hype and excitement leading upto the fight was unbelievable. All the papers and sport sites were making a big deal out of it and boxing was making the headlines.

Sky also really pushed it on SSN and were showing almost daily feature a month (or more) before the fight.

Hatton, a big underdog, was going to the States to take on the best P4P fighter in the world. Mayweather was the brash, loudmouth, arrogant Yank and people wanted to see Hatton shut him up.

Even those who don't watch boxing wanted to see the fight and more than 1m PPV's were sold (which is a UK record).

Do you think the Pac fight will get as much attention and hype?

I doubt it. Mayweather to his credit was the main reason for the hype the last time.

Manny Pacquiao doesn't have half the charisma needed to generate the hype like last time which was crazy.

That is what I thought as well. Mayweather was the 'bad guy' and really helped hype the fight. Hatton and Pac have been very respectful to each other.

The hype for the Mayweather fight was amazing. All my mates were into this but it was mainly because Floyd was a ****.

I think it'll still be big but not as big.

Mayweather is first class at hyping a fight, Pac isn't. However Pac is P4P1 so the fight should be pretty big.

Another factor is that neither fighter are unbeaten either.

This, and the UK-US angle were the key factors IMO.

It was mind blowingly massive, Hatton-Pac won't come close.

However it should because it will be a much better fight, but the amount of coverage for the fight was unreal. Although the positive of it not being watched by that many people is you won't get some guy who knows nothing about boxing going "if they fought again Hatton would win against Mayweather easily" etc.

No, Hatton-Mayweather gripped the country like the world cup.

yeh people wanted hatton to shut up the loud mouth american. also allot of the general public would of seen it as a hatton away fixture. mayweather and hatton were also both undefeated at the time and both were coming of very high profile victorys.

I agree with pretty much everything said above. It won't be as big for the following reasons......

    1. Neither are undefeated.
    2. There is no UK vs US rivalry. So much for the 'Special Relationship' - both us and them love shoving it up each other.
    3. There is no 'good guy vs bad guy' in this fight.
    4. Neither is undefeated.

No, Mayweather brought a lot to the table, Pacquaio and Hatton are two highly talented fighters but don't have Mayweather's charisma.

Mayweather was a great 'bad guy' for everyone to hate, so much he even did a great turn in WWE on the back of it. Hatton will drum up alot of publicity and get your average non fan of the sport interested and even though Pac is an entertaining great fighter the fight itself will lack genuine hype. Pac needs a better quality opponent for that to happen outside these shores.
