Will the media recognise Ricky Hatton as the P4P#1 should he defeat Pac?

Bernard Hopkins was at the back end of the consensus P4P top ten when he fought Felix Trinidad, who was ranked around number three.

After a convincing win, he was elevated to the number one spot.

A convincing win for Hatton against Pacquaio would likely trigger a similar dynamic.

People are simply failing to account for the hyperbole that surrounds any 'big win'. FFS, at this time last week, most of you had Margarito in the top six P4P....

The British Press (like Sun, Mirror, People, etc) will blatantly have Hatton as number 1 if he beats Pac as they know **** all about boxing.

Luckily Pac will TKO Hatton in 8

Floyd was a former 130 lbs fighter... point being?

Roach has said Manny can't make anything less than 140 so it's a totally fair fight. Pac has fought at 147, so don't make out that 140 is a problem. Hatton no doubt will be a bit heavier, but it terms of size physically, there's little to separate the two.

Very good point and one that's worth raising....Mosley has also went flying up the rankings (justifiably) as a result of that win...

i think he can still make 135. but roach is aware of what happened to roy jones after beating ruiz and they better make sure that pac doesn't shed much muscle mass going back at 135.

If they had both come from the same weights I would consider it.

But Hatton has never fought below 140 and Pacquiao's first fight above 130 was last June.

Ricky Hatton will certainly consider Ricky Hatton #1.Remember Pac has fought at a higher weight so that could be used in an argument for Hatton being #1.

If Hatton and JMM both win,a fight could be made to decide true p4p supremacy(assuming Calzaghe is retired)

if hatton pulls it iff it will be a good resume of wins against a #1 p4p, a #3 p4p and a #8 p4p, it would be hard to have him any lower than #3.

If Pac and Hatton Fight, then the winner fights JMM, i dont think Calzaghe's name will be being mentioned

But he fought at 147 and handled the weight fine. Some people can move up weights easily, some peoples bodies can adapt well, Manny is one of those people.

It seems people are making excuses already.

It's morally wrong for one fighter to be bigger than another when they enter the ring?

He was in the Ring rankings. He wasn't in mine.
