Will the referee be fair to Kovalev against Hopkins?

Well if you're asking if the ref will allow B hop to clinch Kovalev to death, I'd say the answers is probably.

Funny that its ok when Wlad clinches but not Hopkins. I wonder why that is?

Who said its ok for Wlad to clinch. Hes criticized more about his style in mainstream boxing media than Hopkins is.

You're new so maybe you're not familiar with the TS and the double standards that come withhis opinions. When Wlad does it its good defense. When Hopkins does it he must have a shady ref in his pocket. :-(

Its cool if someone doesnt like a fighter. I just dont like seeing propaganda against fighters with no substance. Has Hop fought dirty? Sure. But making accusations of refs being paid off is outright slander.

Noooope. This will be probably the dirtiest fight of the year, with Hopkins bringing out his entire disgusting arsenal of head butts, low blows, elbows, rabbit punches, pushing and holding.

But i don't think it will change much. Hopkins is gonna win anyway, Kovalev is too one dimensional to win at points and to land consistently.

That's true, Wlad is always the scapegoat for clinching, yet when FlopJr, Hopkins or Ward do it, it's "awwwwww, so experienced veteran move! BRB, gonna masturbate"

And Wlad never hits low, never elbows his opponents, never headbutts.

Difference being that those fighters actually fight on the inside and try to fight out of clinches.

Of course not. The referee will be from the US and the judges too. They might let a Puerto Rican among judges at best.

Kovalev's only chance is to KO Hopkins. He will not get a decision in the US.

Hopkins is damn near fifty years old. I am not a Hopkins fan but if he is able to pull out a win against Kovalev, by hook or crook, all credit to him. Kovalev should be able to beat Hopkins even if Hopkins carries a baseball bat into the ring with him. If Hopkins is able to foul or stink this fight up to the extent that he has a possibility of winning, he deserves credit.

Be real. Most of these fighters get away with whatever they can in the ring. If Hopkins is able to trash the fight up and get away with it in this particular case, more power to him.

Not only is Hopkins an Alien, but an magician.

People will be amazed as Hopkins materializes a bum out of thin air.

    True.

That being said, Klitschko was holding far too much against Povetkin and the ref should have stopped it earlier.

But this thread isn't about Wladimir, it's about Hopkins. Some people obviously think it's okay to criticize and bash East Europeans, but it's somehow "racist" to apply the same standards to American boxers.

The truth is: there's questionable officiating everywhere. There should be NO fighters considered "sacred cows" who can't be criticized for using illegal tactics, and NO referees who shouldn't be questioned when they favor the home country boxer.
