True, but when you are fighting Hopkins you also have other things against you, too. He is not what I would call a 'clean' fighter. Because of that the role of the referee will be key - if he lets loads stuff go, it will work to Hopkins advantage.

Why even bring race into this? This sounds more like your issue than anyone else's.

Pac is a big star, not American, Hamed was a big draw in the US, not American, Duran a big draw once again not American. Yes American's in general prefer US fighters but Hopkins isn't a draw and won't be ever again no matter what he achieves now, his style switches off too many people, only the purists really watch him.

You want an example, I'll give you one which is most pertinent to this fight.

Kovalev vs Sillakh - 1.3 million viewers
Kovalev vs Cedric Agnew - 1 million viewers
Kovalev vs Caperello - 990k viwers

Hopkins vs Shumenov - 760K viewers
Hopkins vs Murat - 1 million viewers
Hopkins vs Cloud - 1.2 million viewers

So when comparing the viewing figures of both their last 3 fights, Kovalev is a slightly bigger draw.

Not always true their are the odd anomalies such as when Michael Brodie was robbed in the UK facing american Willie Jorrin or when American De La Hoya lost the Puerto Rican Tito in Vegas or Hill against Maske.

a big draw in america? you obviously aren't from here. the average person doesn't even know the name of a current boxer. ask someone to come to a boxing viewing party the past ten or so years, no one will show.

I didn't say Kovalev was a big draw but a bigger draw than Hopkins based on recent performances. Even Canadian, Adonis Stevenson has drawn more than Hopkins in his last 3 fights, so Hopkins isn't even the 2nd biggest draw at light heavy.

You asked for an example of a Russian being bigger draw than an American and I gave you one and the one most pertinent to the discussion we are having.

So explain to me again why Hopkins who has a history of losing any close fight and is a smaller draw currently than Kovalev will somehow conspire to get a robbery in his favour?

same reason the ref tagged in against the turk. americans don't like foreigners, in general. why else would anyone like the dirty pile of **** hopkins?

    Of course he won't.

American referees are blatantly corrupt and biased towards American fighters.

The only one other than famale tennis players that even remotely comes close would probably be Ovechkin. Even in that instance most prefer that whiney, little *****, Sydney Crosby.

My feelings EXACTLY when has Bernard ever won a close decision???? I sure as heck cant remember one. Its laughable how Hopkins haters are already finding excuses for Kovalev if he loses. Jeez a near 50 yr old man should never be getting in ring with a feared supposed killer puncher .
But this aint no ordinary 50 yr old this is....
