If Kenny Bayless is the ref there should be no need for those questions.

Bayless seems like he is a pretty good ref....anybody, but Joe "I won't let them fight" Cortez.

I have seen far too many refs who are biased.

You are right.....I just read in El Nuevo Dia Alfredo Escalera said that
when he fought Arguello he had the misfortune of having Arthur Mercante
as the ref who quickly declared Arguello the winner in the 13th round when
    he could've easily continued on.
If you've never seen Escalera fight and are not aware of his and Arguello's
close friendship , then please don't dump on Escalera for the statement that he made that Arthur Mercante told him that in his ring he will never allow
a dark skinned man to beat a lighter skinned if he can help it.

So, Ref's are human and can be biased to where it affects a fighter....

I have seen one continue to harass a fighter to keep his punches higher when they were perfectly sound and ignore rabbit punches from the other.

Cortez says that he is firm, but fair.....not true .....I think he is biased.
He would lean towards Cotto...I'm sure of it....thats why I would not want him in there.....if he were mentioned, he should immediately recuse himself

Ken Bayless would be my choice....he doesn't have to blow his horn that he is fair.....he displays it in his ringmanship.

I think he would be fair to Manny and Cotto which means the fans would win
and Roach would have no pretext to complain.

Neither men like to hold, and Cotto hates being held, so unless Manny wants to powerbombed I suggest he not even try it

The only thing I can imagine needing a red for would be stopping the fight and cuts, other then that it should be much like Cotto-Margo

Good point, however Manny likes to rush in with that left sucker punch ...
suppose there is a deep gash on either one ?

Suppose that Manny comes in with belt line at nipple level...will Cotto continue to get harrassed for body punches and point deducted ?

I don't put anything past Roach for tactic advantages.

Either way I believe if they are left to fight that Cotto is going to inflict
serious damage and can possibly hurt Pacquiao in a profound way!!!

Kenny Bayliss or Tony Weeks would do fine in Nevada.
If it were on the east coast i would say Steve Smoger or Arthur Mercante Jr.

Smoger or Bayless, no question. They're happy to officiate professionally without seeking attention.

I think it may hurt Cotto's body punching if they say that they are too low..I think that if Manny hurts Cotto he better watch out because Cotto will not be discouraged.
