Have a better win than either Crawford or Loma? Both undefeated, ones leaving with all the belt's.. I know Terry beat that African 'coming to America dude' & teeny rotator cuff Loma just gave Linares a kidney operation but do either of those pose more of a threat than peak very feel Usyk or Gassiev? This is a rare prime for prime, best facing the best, undisputed match up... No Ricky Burns in sight!
Yeah they will, but they are not 'mainstream' enough to be but as high as the top 3 regardless of any win. It's bull****.
Way better than Crawford's best for sure. I have no doubt that the Dancing Cossack, Bashir trained Usyk with his oseledets hairstyle would box his way to a comfortable UD against the beastly Gassiev, but if he holds his feet too much in this one like he's been doing a lot more of late since he parted ways with Bashir he'll increase his chances of losing ten-fold. But the winner is top 5 for sure, and if road warrior Usyk wins he's top 3 or 4. Yes absolutely. My only thoughts about afterwards are.. will the winner move straight up to Heavyweight? I can't see any good reason to stay at CW for the winner and the real money is at Heavyweight. Also if the winner does move to Heavyweight do they go after Wilder or AJ and what would the reason be? More money or a more winnable fight? FFS they haven't fought yet and I'm 12-18 months down the road with the winner.
Yes. Both have P4P worthy resumes as we speak and both have done more to warrant a top 10 P4P position than other so called P4P fighters.
this win, whoever wins, will be a double unification, so its at least on par with their wins, likely better. Its a battle of elites, no less. Whoever emerges as winner, if they go to HW to claim a title, can emerge as HoF since few CWs go on to win HW titles, it will be match the historical precedent set by Holyfield, if it happens. If they are that good, who knows, ATG may follow. Thats the future though, one step at a time, one must prove master of the CW world first.
If there is enough demand after tonight, and they both wanna step up to HW, why not rematch at HW? I hope they take the Wilder route though. We're already getting top match ups with Joshua..... Here's hoping to at least 3 mega HW clashes a year.
Yeah, depends how close tonight is, if it's one sided, very clear cut and no controversy then I can't see a rematch happening. I don't know what the winner has left to do at CW and the Heavyweight division if a little bit up in the air at the moment because AJ Vs Wilder doesn't seem any closer to me so there are two Champions to target, I also suppose how the governing bodies rank them if/when they move up. I think Gassiev would be better suited to fight Wilder and Usyk better suited fighting AJ, they are two fights I'd love to see.
Probably yeah, I rate Usyk and Gassiev higher than Loma/Crawford's opponents at the time they beat them.
Breidis? You may be right.. Though GRJ & Linares (who admittedly has durability issues) both have excellent skill & Loma had some things stacked against him here.. Linares was naturally bigger & he fought most of it unable to utilize his right arm to it's fullest. For GRJ he'd only had two fights & was coming off a dubious loss* so he was up against it.. Horn? Well yeah I agree he's not on that level.. Though to be fair he did move up to fight him but he's Bika in vanilla clothing! Indongo? Looked a good win a performance but he's just been found wanting & had only really fought Burns who's pretty average & poses no real threat in terms of skill set or power or even pedigree to anyone worth a ****..
