    You're right of course, that's how lineage has traditionally been done. And Canelo will still be the official lineal champ until he loses to someone.

    But I personally think that a change would not go amiss. There should be some requirement to keep fighting in the division to hold the lineal title IMHO.

    No he is not right because canelo left the division and by doing so forfeited the lineal middleweight championship

    Infact technically he never even fought in the division

    Ducknelo is beyond a joke at this point

    Yep. Him and Stevenson have made a mockery of their lineal titles. As has Fury tbf. The last few years have been a bad time for lineal titles.

    Perhaps as fans we should look at refusing to recognise these people as 'lineal' in certain scenarios, for example not fighting for over 18 months or fighting in another division for more than one fight.

    Its a fictional title. Different set of rules. Rather vague rules tbh.

    Listen ducknelo gave up his lineal title, the title is in no way "fictional" and the rules only seem vague to you because you're stupid

    What does that belt mean? BJS beat Lee for it... big achievement. Jacobs beat Quillin who also held that belt.
    What matters are the names on their resume.
    BJS is ahead of Jacobs in that regard.

    What exactly are the rules when it comes to the Lineal title?
    Its a made up belt.

    Canelo gave up his WBC belt but he is still the man who beat the man...

    You can lose a lineal title 3 different ways

    1. You lose it in the ring
    2. You retire
    3. You leave the division
