Will there be a "RIP Don King" when he dies?

When he was a Cleveland bookmaker, he was owed a gambling debt. Armed with a pistol, he sought the person out to collect the debt, a person he outweighed by a ridiculous amount. He ended up stomping the guy to death over the debt. So no, stealing is not the worse thing he has ever done.

 

King is an atg promoter. Doubt I would say the same about Arum

 

Was there one for the guy he killed? Such a man like King deserves no RIP and might be able to cheat his judgment after death if there is such a thing.

 

He murdered two people.

He ruined dozens of promising careers, by signing young boxers, keeping them inactive for years, and not letting them leave for other promoters.

He cheated many fighters out of their rightful earnings, such as Mike Tyson.

 

Wow, I need to watch the King documentary. Either way, he’s done a better job than pretty much every promoter today

 

It’s not like I’d shed a tear for the guy but he was a great promoter.

RIP when he does die.

 

Who are the two people you accuse him if murdering then. One guy over the numbers racket who was the other

 

Anybody who can flaunt the law like King has done deserves to be celebrated, they are modern day anti heroes

 

Don King is one of the best things that ever happened to boxing. I will miss him dearly.

He killed a man but he turned his life around when given another chance, and became a success.
I'm not saying he's a good person, but he was a great boxing promoter.
And this is a boxing forum, so a suitable place to respect that aspect of him.

Yeah, he might burn in hell.
But so might you or I.
We'll all find out in due course.

 

If I remember rightly: He killed one guy in the 1950s who broke into his place and was robbing it. I don't think he was even tried for it. It was deemed justified. The guy I think was armed.

The second killing was when he pistol whipped and kicked a man to death who owed him money. In the 1960s, I think. He served some time in prison for manslaughter.

Both killings were connected with him being in the numbers racket.

This all happened well over 50 years ago, before he turned to boxing promotion.

 

There are boxers who similarly served time for killing other human being, before turning their lives around, who don't seem to catch quite the same flak as King gets.
