there will never be another tyson, nor will there ever be another Roy Jones and oscar de la hoya. Those 3 were some of boxings biggest names ever, and even though Roy isn't a house hold name like Oscar or Tyson was, his talent is a once in a life time thing. oscar is the biggest non heavyweight name in history of boxing and with his looks, his character and his exciting and dominate fighting style, we won't see all of that again in one guy. Here was this little 130lber knocking guys out like Tyson did in 1-2 rounds, looked like a model and acted like a business man.

 

C'Mon, surely depends what you mean. These guys aren't TV characters, or something outta a video game, but living, breathing and suffering people, who happen to have a particular talent for a particular kind of controlled violence. Each of them is unique, and uniquely human - unless humanity evolves towards some 'utopian' future where violence and combat sports are completely outlawed (and I'm sure they would continue even then), new fighters, with their own special blend of style, physique and boxing ability will continue to emerge.

There will never be another 'Tyson', 'Ali' or 'Robinson' but given enough time, there will be those who achieve similar things. As for head-to-Head? Well, in my opinion the question is meaningless - if fantasy match ups had any bearing on the will, courage, stamina and skill of fighters past or present, there'd be no need for the guys to get hurt now, would there?

I doubt we'll ever see a fighter like Tyson again. Just like we will never see another Ali.Tyson had a unique combination of attributes combined with presence and personality that for a brief moment had the world under his spell.

We'll see other fighters come who may surpass his ability and legacy but we'll never see another heavyweight who will surpass his fame and notoriety. Being heavyweight champion no longer means what it used to do, Tyson may be the last heavyweight champion to have that mystique that being heavyweight champion once had.

I think the question you should be asking is will there ever be a Cus D'amato again?

People never seem to understand that the simple reason Tyson's life and career went off the tracks was because Cus was his trainer/confident/father figure, guardian angel if you will. In fact he was more than that, the man's mental awareness and understanding the dynamics of life are incomparable to anyone I have ever heard of. You have to take into account the life Tyson lived, coupled with his savage time in US prison/correctional facilities (check his 'I will **** you till you love me ******' rant to see what I mean) proper sent him off the rails. He had lived a life of pain, crime, poverty, male ****, ***ual assault, stuff you and us will hopefully never comprehend or encounter. Cus' death still upsets him, its like your hero dying. Its no coincidence his life imploded when he died. He was everything to him, and taught him not just the fundamentals, but the true meaning of what life is about, not just boxing, thats merely a side story. He taught him the most important rule of boxing. Not physical strength, conditioning, training; its mental strength and using your brain. It is so underrated these days. Tyson single handedly became the youngest champion in HW history because of how he thought and how Cus prepared and informed him. He knew how to exploit, to influence fear, mentally beat men before he even touched them, but above all that he taught him how to be a good, proper person. After that, reptilian ****s like Don King screwed him, along with that ***** and now we have the enigma that is Iron Mike, some kind of beast, ******, animal. Ironically, he is P4P the most intelligent, kind, passionate and biggest boxing historian out of any living pugilist today. You can tell that the extra-special qualities Cus possessed, he transferred to Tyson. The man is a living legend. I hate it when people make out he was some sort of fluke, a failure, a freak. They need to learn some ****ing respect. He has good, solid wins over Berbick, Ruddock, Tubbs, Tucker and Holmes. They say this **** like Holmes was past it and Berbick was a bum, well the former was not far off a big win over the then undefeated young undefeated Ray Mercer and Berbick was a decent champion who had just retired Ali. He annihilated the competition, made a mockery of it, became arguably one of the most famous people to ever walk this planet, but because the geezer has mental health issues and got ****ed over he's a worthless piece of crap. He was the lineal heavyweight champion of the world at 21! Nothing at HW, even Ali, would walk over the Tyson pre-Douglas. Its not fair to judge him as a whole. People are different. Cus made Tyson, and when he wasn't there for him when he encountered the scoundrels who cheated and exploited him he was lost. Its just basic stuff, but everyone has to bring up Holyfield and Lewis. That Tyson was just in it for the money and was on drugs and gd knows what else. Its just 2 different fighters.

Tyson was and is the last great thing that ever happened to boxing. I love the sport to death but nothing will ever come close to what happened with Tyson. Thank the lord he met Cus. Pure magic/chemistry. And to think he told him the minute he met him that he would become the undisputed HW champion of the world before he was 21. Aint that some ****!

 

You will never see another Mike Tyson again. I can almost guarantee it. There were some fighters that were big, but Iron Mike was bigger than anything. I remember that everyone and their mother talked about him and his upcoming fight. What a time...

This is what I was thinking.

Some outlier could come along, but a sub 6 foot HW becoming champ - even 1 belt - is slim to none in this era.

 

There's not any similarity in how GGG or Tyson fight other than power and coming forward. Totally different. If you were to count that minor similarity as 'similar to Tyson' then you'd have to include half of the fighters that fight in boxing.
