Will there ever be a true ATG CW who doesn't move to hw?

Will there be a supremely dominant CW who doesn't try HW?

And by that, I really mean not just atg for CW, but one of the very top few all time, a fully unified champ or a very long reigning champ whose more or less cleared out the division enough to make himself a concencus top 5 CW all time at least. Really, CW is probably the weakest division all time. Everyone who succeeds there moves up to HW for the money, even if their odds aren't great. It would be real nice to see a great cruiser champ stake his claim at CW, unify, and clear out the division. Honestly, that would probably be enough to put them at #2 all time behind Holy if they did that. But I suspect the ones who could do that will always go for the money rather than the legacy, bolt cw early, and (usually) lose at HW without really distinguishing themselves.

Usyks a good example. I think he'll leave for HW before he really established himself as an ATG at cw, and then, I don't think he's got the right qualities to truly excel at HW.

Yes. I think it will happen eventually as the HWs get bigger and bigger.

The gap between LHW and CW is large too, 175 to 200.

If we potentially get a CW who is small for his weight class but just too big for 175 then this (let's assume he's ATG level) CW might stay at his division for good under the following conditions

    1) he is a big draw on his own for whatever reason
    2) all the big names in the HW during his prime are 240lbs+ 6 foot 6 monsters.

I mean imagine someone like Mchunu. Obviously he's not elite at CW but imagine he was an elite fighter and would be destroying everyone at 200 lbs. There would still be no way he could beat the likes of Klitschko and Joshua with his small size.

Cruiserweight is a relatively new division it has always lacked economically viable names that could make it a premier division.
It doesn't make any sense for that division to exist. You should either make 175 or fight at heavyweight, starving to 200 pounds makes no sense if you are gonna weight 218 on fight night.
You talk about guys starving like ballerinas and taking weight loss suppliments, cruiserweight is the real Canelo weight division.

Pretty sure they all will. If they're truly dominant, they would be bonkers (that's an English term for wonko) not to move up and grab some of that HW money and fame.

Mind alone great Cruiserweight whose jump to the most prestige championship is just a few manageable pound.
Even the great lightheavyweights in the past were inspired to do that: Conn, Spinks, foster, Roy jones.
So for ATG cruiser, the temptation will be too great.

Yes, but he'll have to have pound for pound skills and a lot of title defenses! The size disparity these days prevents most crusiers from attempting the jump to heavyweight.

Actually the Cruiser Weight division is rather good, with talent and depth. I enjoy them. I used to laugh at the division, but moving the division up to 200 pounds means anyone from 180-210 ( on fight night ) can mix it.

Now that you mention it, I never realized how many words there are with "w-nk-", but there really are a few. Most of them, amazingly enough, applying to Max Kellerman.

There will never be. For the simple fact of money.

I remember a David Haye interview years ago (not a fan so he could be telling lies IMO) saying his debut fight at HW made him more money that his last 4 at CW which included a unification fight at a sold out arena.
