True, but i've noticed a lot of post's on here recently claiming Haye is this great finisher when he isn't.

It maybe people clinging onto hope for Haye to win? I don't know but i got sick of seeing them so had to reply lol

 

really i would say the opposite and having 49 ko's means you are a pretty good finisher hell if haye was a good finisher why did he not finish Valuev in the 12th why did it take him 9 rounds and a towel being thrown if to get a washed up Ruiz out of there.. Haye is not a good finisher. :good

 

if i remember correctly, spinks was a +330 dog against tyson as opposed to haye being a +180. i had money on spinks and he did not come to fight. i remember seeing him being interviewed drunk six months before the fight and now realize to never bet on a fighter that gets drunk(corey spinks/chris leben/pavlik being recent examples).

although this is a 10+unit fight for me at wk-210, anything can happen.

after all, michael spinks at at around +400 beat a 35-year-old larry holmes. twice.

so for all you wk guys saying that haye does not stand a chance, please revisit some history.

 

I thought the same thing until the Ruiz fight. Haye looked sloppy and unable to finish a dazed and confused Ruiz in the 1st round.

Then Haye didn't look too sharp against Harrison neither. Many of his punshes missed the mark, hit Harrison shoulder etc. etc.

He looked like a sharp, relentless finisher against Mormeck, but against Ruiz and Harrison it seemed wild and uncontrolled. Almost like he turned a victim of his own over-ambition. Just my 2 cents.

 

His KO % says otherwise.

 

Both of those guys have VERY good chins. Haye doesn't :good

It's really too bad Haye hasn't done a bit more at HW than he has. A couple more quality wins at HW would bolster his resume and give us a better sense of his ability.

Had he fought a couple of prime contenders rather than washed up guys like Ruiz, Harrison and Barret, we might rate him a bit higher.

Not that those wins are schlock, because Barret can fight and Ruiz has a sense of finding ways to win. So both are decent wins. But Haye really should have beaten a couple more journeymen and a couple of contenders as well. A couple wins or Aguilera, Quintana and Long, and a few wins over Potvetkin, Arreola, and Chambers mightv'e given us a sense of his belonging in the top tier of the division.

It's too bad he's retiring so soon. I'd really like to see him fight on against some of those names. Hell, even a fight with Aguilera and Potvekin would earn him some extra dough and provide us with some entertainment.

I think so. I think many people are going to be shell shocked at how one sided the fight is. They'll be saying Haye is no better than the Sam Peters and Eddie Chambers of the world. He'll just be another Wlad victim, totally outclassed.
