Fair enough, though he did get standing 8 count, which gave Wlad 12-15 extra seconds to rebound a bit, Bryd messed up, there was no standing 8 count in effect for that fight, Wlad got a gift because there was only seconds left in that round for Brewster to continue his attack.

 

I was talking about Wlads lame oppenent Thompson, which I'm guessing will bring in very low numbers for HBO, considering the oppenent and Wlad's last lack luster performance, which on HBO's poll question "How many changed the channel or fell asleep during the fight"?, 67% voted yes. Wlad might be popular in Germany, but in America he doesnt have a big fan base, only California, where he and his brother currently reside, is he popular.

It's called a unification fight, of course it's going to be popular no matter where it is, we havent had one since 99. I just feel sorry for the crowd that came to see a fight, instead they got a glorified sparring match, by two scared fighters.

 

MSG was also almost full for the Brock fight. There are over 1.5 million of Russian speaking people in the NYC metro area, so your comment about Klitschko not having "a big fan base" is quite off base...

 

In my opinion Anthony Thompson will stand no longer than 4 rounds. He is not much better then bum Ray Austin.

 

Okay let me school you. Sam Peter had to fight in a shittie bulla arena in mexico to get a belt handed to him. Wlad is popular in AC, California, NYC, and Vegas. Those are all the major boxing venues in the united states. Your argument is weak and you just got called out. Plus a got money on Sultan beating peter if peter ever gets the balls to fight a top fighter in there prime. He only did that with Wlad.

 

I'm guessing you live in NYC? I may be wrong about him not having a big fan base in every state, but the majority of the country dont even know who Wlad is, he's hardly a household name and rarely on any sports shows on TV, and was never once on PPV, something his brother was able to during his run as champ, fighting Danny Williams in December of 04.

 

He is not popular there mainstream wise, in California he is, because thats where he and his brother have been living for the last 5+ years.

 

It was even worse: During the break (1st -> 2nd round) Wlad's corner HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. His trainer Sdunek was completely overstrained and didn't tell Wlad ANYTHING what to do. He was merely fiddling around with the bucket and the bottle. Shortly afterwards Wlad switched trainers.

Against Puritty it was pure stamina loss.

Against Puritty you see that Wlad has actually a good chin since he took Puritty's powershots pretty well although he was completely exhausted. His corner threw the towel.

Against Brewster was different. Watch the walk-in: Wlad already looks tired BEFORE the fight. His trainer Sdunek said that Wlad couldn't get warm during the pre-fight warm-up. The blood sugar levels after the fight showed that he nearly slid into a glycaemic coma. His pupils were shifted.

That was some FREAK ending. Compare Brewster to Puritty: Against Puritty it's SO OBVIOUS GASSING, while Brewster it's more like sudden collapse.

I counted approx. 5 powerpunches of Brewster before Wlad collapsed. This KO was one of the weirdest I have ever seen, since it wasn't induced by the opponent AND Wlad's output was also too little to explain it.

I rewatched the Corrie Sanders fight several times. I still wouldn't be so sure he could beat Corrie Sanders of 2003 this time around. I have never seen Wlad fighting another opponent with such speedy counter-punch directly through the midst. Ibragimov looked similar (= as if he had stones in his glove) but Iggy is smaller and doesn't throw that straight. I mean Corrie Sanders' punches against VITALI were so fast that I even couldn't see them clearly in slow motion.

 

He is popular in all the major boxing venues in america. He was on Conan obrian and Fox Sports Network. Plus HBO stated they he is the draw in the heavyweight division and commands the most money generated for heavyweight fights. Like i said Wlad is popular in the boxing world and is slowly becoming mainstream.

 

Sanders hits hard as hell. Hell I bet he would beat Peter if they fought next month.

 

Wlad wasn't scared of Sultan he just fought smart & Iggy was leaning so far back that to throw the right Wlad would've had to over extend himself, which is what Iggy wanted him to do.

It was just a bad style matchup and nothing more.

 

Wladimir chooses not to fight on PPV because he wants as many boxing fans to see his fights as is possible. That's well documented & something I, as a long time boxing fan, appreciate. Not every fan can afford $49 and up to see a fight.
