Will Tomlinson vs. Malcolm Klassen RBR

Yeah, it's unraveling like a tale of both men's flaws more than being about their strengths.

Klassen is shy to engage when Tomlinson lays it on; Tomlinson looks very foolish missing when Klassen wants him to.

 

Round 6

Tomlinson is pushing in with jabs and sloppy overhand rights. Klassen is cowed by them, giving ground and ducking in to grab Tomlinson when he can. Klassen's gum shield is out. Time in. A bunch of straights thrust in earnest by Klassen, up on his toes and leaning in. He scores with several as Tomlinson fails to move his head so much as one degree. More jabs and whipping overhands by Tomlinson, not landing much but pushing Klassen into submission again. Klassen reverts from covering up and leaning in on Tomlinson to ducking very low past his waist as he circles. Body shots by Klassen leaning in.

A tiny bit more offense from Klassen (or even a tad less cringing against the ropes looking fragile) and he swings a few of these.

 

Round 7

Tomlinson is lunging in at Klassen's body with big wide underhand combos while bowing in at 90° angles, butt sticking out behind himself. Klassen skips away, dropping jabs on Tomlinson's face. Lots of movement by Klassen, Tomlinson looking stymied. Body shots by Klassen to fight his way off the ropes, digging in fiercely while spinning out to center to swap positions. Tomlinson flops into Klassen and tries for some body shots but isn't snapping them, just sort of heaving his arms in as they wrestle and unable to generate any torque, completely smothered by his own eagerness.

Some of these rounds are really a ***** to score.

Balls-out aggression by Tomlinson, but so little of it lands (especially looking at slow-motion replays)

It's a bit like Mayweather vs. Ortiz if you cut Mayweather's offensive work in half, and then halve it again. (and really even quartering it might be generous in Klassen's favor)

 

He's living up to the "Wild Will" moniker today. :yep

 

Round 8

Tomlinson is winging in uppercuts and slamming over with cannonball rights as he comes forward. Klassen seems tired, in no mood to fork out more than an odd single or double push-jab every ten seconds or so as he circles wide. Tomlinson inevitably reaches him and they clinch. The cut on Tomlinson is leaking copiously now. They pause to examine it. Time in. They trade until the bell.
