What's everyones thoughts on Will, how would he fair on the higher end of the world scene? I thought he looked pretty good on Friday night but I would have liked to have seen him over the full 12 rounds, Exciting to watch, hopefully he goes places.
He certainly put the lights out.... What a bizzare ending to a fight, I've seen it happen before but not to the extent where it cant be fixed and teh fight failed to resume...
In all fairness Will was fighting the best i have seen him so far in his career. The mexican kid was by far the best he has fought imo and came to Australia looking for a win. Will held his own and was winning the fight untill the lights went out. Rematch should be on the cards i hope :deal
Will is still fairly young and he's improving every fight, obviously he is still a fair way off the elite but hes starting to step up his opponents and it will be interesting to see how far he can go,I'm sure the yanks would love his style of fighting. One problem he does have is that he cuts up a lot which might cost him a big fight one day but i love that left hook of his it's a perla:good
I thought the other mexican was a better fighter than this one. Will needs to find his identity in the ring. Still learning, but he can go all "katsidis" when he doesnt have to. He has some good skills and underrated speed...he should always be a boxer/puncher and try to forget the brawling wars if he doesnt have to. Its great for the fans, but will wont have a long career if he gets into wars too often. He settled down after a few rds the other night, so hopefully he keeps his head in all his fights. His biggest downfall is his defence...he gets hit flush a little bit too much. I think he is a level below the top guys in the division but deserves his spot as a top 15 type fighter.
Will is a good fighter but is not at the elite level yet. His last two opponants have been good tests (apart for the unfortunate ending last Friday) for him at he probably needs a few more fights at this level before stepping up and challenging for one of the major belts. He can be exciting to watch and has decent skills, but doesn't seem to mind going into the trenches, which is good for fight fans. If he is guided right in his next 5 or 6 fights, we could have another Aussie champ with a major belt. There are some pretty good fighters in the super featherweight division and he is rated 3rd with the WBO, of which Adrien Bronner holds the belt. This would be a bridge too far at this stage.
