Will Toney KO Thompson?

No James Toney cant Ko Tony Thompson, while I think Toney will win it it will be a hard and close fight, but at the end of the night James Toney is a better fighter and that will pull him though in this fight.

 

Toney cannot KO Thompson. As far as I remember he has KOed only Holyfield as heavyweight.

 

I'm a Toney fan, but he's going to get dominated by Thompson and if he's as shot as I think he is, he will get stopped late.

Honestly, I feel that Tony Thompson is dangerous and underrated, I hope Toney takes this fight dead serious and he better bring his A game or things will go amiss again...

I am a little bit disappointed right now as Toney does not look in great physical shape. If he does not come at least in the physical condition of Rahman II (226), he might lose this fight and does not deserve to win it. I am always rooting for James but it is how it is. He needs to get his ass into shape for this one otherwise it is lightsout for his career.

Yes one should be concerned, he is 40 years old and fights 6 foot 6 fighter right who is better than Rahman.

 

Very unlikely. It took Wlad 11 rounds and, even then, Thompson already looked like he didn't give a **** anymore after collapsing against the ropes.

Huge boost if Toney did get the KO, of course. Just unlikely.

 

Did you see how many right hands Thompson took from Wladimir Klitschko? Toney will NOT knock him out. No way.

Why do I get the feeling the winner here might get a title shot?

 

With what sanctioning body though? There's a line a mile long.

McCline won a WBC eliminator against Mollo but Gomez is the #1 in that sanctioning body and first in line for Vitali.

Valuev (or the unlikely possibility of Holyfield) would have to fight Chagaev immediately.

The WBO already gave Thompson a shot at Klitschko and he lost. Toney would be a new face but should the WBO sanction the fight as a title eliminator it runs the risk of creating another Klitschko/Thompson fight which we already saw.

The IBF perhaps? Povetkin will probably snap that spot up again since he didn't really lose it.

Because right now there are not many contenders around, and even less good ones. The winner of Toney-Thompson deserves to be a contender given the state of the division. And they are certainly more deserving of a title-shot than quitter Rahman, old Holyfield or underachiever McCline.
