Will Tyrone Spong, Usyk's next opponent, be a challenging test for Usyk or not?

Usyk Spong, that's a good name for a Tatooinian or Mandalorian Bounty Hunter.

Spong has to much mileage on him and you don't fight D level boxers with only 14 fights and expect to defeat Usyk. Usyk should be able to stop him around 8/9.

Usyk would need some training to check leg kicks if he wants to be competitive against Spong in K1.

14 fights is a meaningless number. It is out of context when assessing the experience and seasoning of the fighter.. what was his amateur career like? Did he fight in other combat sports?

Spong ain't an amateur, he lacks pure boxing experience, not fight experience, and as we've seen... boxers can be beat by fighters (former kickboxers)

Interesting article on Usyk.... should he be following the Evander Hollyfield template of taking some contenders first? Not jumping into the deep end with the elite...

And it is unfair he skipped over the top contenders to get the #1 WBO mando spot...

"After fighting Spong in October, Usyk should then look to fight Chisora or Rivas..."

Lol no analysis on Spong at all like he is a stepping stone.

Rivas would hurt Usyk, I'd like to see that fight.

Spong is an aged fighter in fight years. He's a natural light heavy weight who put on size overseas as he aged.

The key word here is boxing ability and there's levels here , it's like running a high school Mile in 6 minutes and thinking your ready for Olympics.

Spong has wasted 4 years already now fighting a guy in the gym with Wlad Klitschko throughout the years and a proven fighter at any weight whether it be cruiser or Heavy , Spong is in over his head here and his selection of opponents who would never reach top 100 is going to show herein the fight itself.

    We'll see,

Because Spong has ample experience in the ring as a fighter at elite level I dont believe he is levels behind any boxer... so there wont be a huge gap... it's just minor discrepencies... boxing is just different timing, different positioning... all things that can be picked up at a highly accelerated rate if you have been through the fighting career spong has. And this is what he was doing with his first batch of opponents up until now... just getting the timing right, then it becomes like second nature...he already knows how to fight very well.

I am under no illusion that Usyk isn't superior as a boxer, but he isn't a better fighter... and Spong will give Usyk a good fight in my opinion... he will counter hard... and Usyk is very hittable... Spong has good abilities all round, in ducking, weaving, dodging...

If I was in Spongs corner I would tell him to take Usyk out early, and don't let Usyk find his rythm or suss out Spongs rythm because thats what Usyk always does the first few rounds... just analayse your movements to find the predictability.

I can't believe Spong is being overlooked like a stepping stone, or a meaningless opponent.

Spong has bulked up over the years. but he has kept the weight solid... he is more than a light heavy, he is naturally a cruiser at 6 foot 2... he was very lean 170s back when he was a puppen...

IDK, I really don't see it and have no reasoning seeing Spong upset the division and take out Usyk who is the next big fight at Heavyweight for the unified champion ,and will out box Ruiz if he somehow upsets AJ again. Usyk WILL go on to see belts potentially, worse case be a real top 5 guy for a awhile . Spong ? I must be missing something here,im going to need visual evidence not old Ortiz sparring stories.

Well remember Whyte was a kickboxer too and look how he turned out

Not saying Spong will follow suite but they both share that x factor... that power and sheer will to grind out a win because of how dedicated they are mentally

Either Spong causes an upset or he will put on a good show like Whyte always does
