Oh, he's got the skills, no doubt. But he's giving up a hell of a lot of lbs in the process. I'm interested to see how it goes
When Holyfield won the Crusierweight title he was 187 lbs. WITH A SAME DAY WEIGH-IN. A couple of years later he was dueling with Bowe, Lewis and Ustinov. Usyk is a bigger man than Holy he's probably 215 in the ring.
Holyfield was 187 when he won the Crusierweight title. Chris Byrd was a SMW who took 18 months off to eat. James Toney is 5'8, and Povetkin is about 6-2 220, same size as Usyk. He should just go up, take 2 fights and if it doesn't work, just move back down.
With Hunter dispatching of both Bakole and Ustinov within 5 weeks, I severely doubt it. Still doubt he can become a reigning heavyweight champion, but Usyk is most definitely a worthy contender.
Yeah usyk is a known coward he ducked other cruisers by going to their backyard and beating them, thats the purest ducking. Unlike wilder, ward or AJ, Usyk always fights at home.
Different era - heavyweights are much bigger now and Holyfield was obviously on drugs. Usyk will move up though. I think he’s good enough to manage just fine anyway.
