Will Usyk fight on when Fury drops out? If so, against who?

See as how the Fury meltdown has already started.

Will Usyk chose another opponent? Winner of Dubois-Joshua for the IBF belt? Parker? Zhang? Return to cruiser?

I suspect he'll return to CW - could be wrong, but I think he's at mission accomplished at heavy and only sticking around because of contractual obligations.

I like the idea of him going back to cruiserweight. Heavyweight has been a garbage division for ages anyway. He's accomplished what he set out to. I know Usyk is getting older, but imagine if he could unify at cruiserweight for a second time. Would be the perfect way to end his career, and it would cement his greatness to another level. I'd be fine with him just riding off into the sunset if that's what he wanted to do, though.

Fury won't drop out, he loves a beer that is well known and he has too big a ego to lose and dash.

It would be good if Fury retires and Usyk fights Parker instead.
Fury does not deserve a rematch.
Parker deserves a shot right now!

Dubois is more deserving of a Usyk rematch than Fury is. And if Dubois can defeat Joshua, he's far more worthy.

I don’t see him ever returning to CW. Gman made a good video about the reasons why he doesn’t see it either.

    This content is protected

But basically, the reasons why I don’t see it:

    1. It makes no sense financially.
    2. He has grown into a fully-fledged heavyweight. Come December, he will have been a heavyweight for six years. He is probably walking around at least 225-230 lbs when not fighting. Losing 25-30 lbs when you are already athletic and in shape at 38 is madness; you can’t do that without compromising muscle mass, and it also takes a toll on your heart, liver, kidneys, everything.
    3. To become undisputed at cruiserweight again, he would have to collect all the belts, which are fragmented today. That would mean 3-4 fights at least, which could take 2-3 years. All the while he is aging and cutting weight for each fight, which would be really hard to do now after all these years as a heavyweight. That’s why heavyweights can fight well into their 40s. There’s no cutting weight at heavyweight.
    4. He is all about legacy, and the cruiserweight division, especially this one, which is significantly weaker than the one he dominated, would not add to his legacy. He would make massive sacrifices financially and health-wise, but the rewards wouldn’t be there. What would be the point?

Long story short, I find this scenario pretty much impossible to happen.

There is little point in him fighting on to begin with. There isnt much left for him. He can retire now or after the fury rematch if it comes off.

Usyk should fight Parker or Zhang or retire.
Usyk v Opetaia would be good but that would be better made above 200 pounds, not under.

Fury probably won't drop out, it would be hard for him to turn down a 8 figure payday. If he does though, I want to see Usyk vs Zhang.

I understand why people want Usyk to fight Parker but it's not an interesting fight to me, I simply don't see any outcome where Usyk doesn't comfortably and easily outbox Parker.

Zhang is a more interesting matchup, sure in all likelihood, Usyk just has to be smart for about 6 rounds, then Zhang's gas tank will expire, but Zhang's insane punch power gives him more of a puncher's chance than Parker.

Dubois doesn't deserve an Usyk rematch, unless he beats Joshua.

Fight Zhang in China and then Parker in New Zealand and then walk off on water into the sun set because he’s Usyk

If I recall right, didn't Usyk once say he wanted to take on AJ, Fury and Wilder at heavyweight? Since Wilder has recently been beaten very convincingly in different ways by Parker and Zhang, who better to replace him than those two?

Damn sure prefer either of them to Dubois again

I guess it really depends when he drops out.

If it is in the next month or so, then the IBF might push Dubois forward. If it is closer to or after September, the winner of Dubois v Joshua would expect time to prepare. December would be too soon.

So that would open the window for Parker if the Saudis are determined to stick to their December date. But I doubt the IBF would be willing to let the WBO queue jump.

So it would likely fall to Zhang. Who I could see jumping at the opportunity to be a last minute replacement.

Zhang in China would be awesome, just from an event point of view. He probably should retire but as a fan, I wouldn't mind him defending the undisputed belt a couple of times. Just as a bit of a lap of honour while he's universally recognised p4p no.1.
