Will Vitali's "bad" performance get him some fights?

Will Haye be more likely to get in the ring with him? Maybe Povetkin will want to request to fight the big brother instead?

I am not even going to say...well...you know, but...

Yes. Boxing is a business that is based on part reality part perception. No one wants to get canned like Peter, Arreola, or Gomez, but some might think I can do some of the things Johnson did last night. So yes.

    Bring on Haye, or Valuev.

Cachi I have a question for you.

Do you think this era of heavyweights compares to the previous eras?

To answer your question, no I don't think so. Everyone saw Johnson was in survival mode and wasn't there to fight but collect a paycheck. If Johnson was trying to win he probably would have gotten knocked out.

The immediate post Lewis era was possibly the worst ever. Byrd and Ruiz stinking it up, Vitaly not fighting due to injury, Wlad doing his basketball impersonation, and Lamon putting on entertaining fights against some pretty limited oppostion.

It has gradually gotten better, and I think it is about to become very, very good.

WladKlit, VitKlit, Haye, Adamek, Povetkin, Chambers, Boytsov, Solis, Peter, Helenius, Pulev- good fights on the horizon my friend.

You gave him 3-4 rounds? He scored with a lot of overhand rights? Kevin landed 5 power punches in the whole fight. Vitali's black eyes were from his sparring sessions

    Agreed.

I think we're still in the post-Lewis era, with maybe a minor improvement. Not seeing much beyond the Povetkins and Chambers, which I think are ordinary heavyweights compared to past greats.

No disagreement. A lot of those guys on that list are sluggers which always make for good fights. Getting them in shape is the problem though. I personally see the best heavyweight fight coming from a Boystov-Povetkin showdown. Maybe an Arreola-Peter fight would also be exciting.

I think you're right... Johnson's lack of offense was pitiful, but he sure did make Vitali look bad. VK just didn't seem to know what to do with that kind of slippery defence.

Makes me wonder if James Toney aint that crazy after all for thinking he can whup Vitali. :think

Vitali looked good. It was Johnson that looked bad. It was Vitali that made Johnson crawl into a shell like a turtle. Turtle Johnson should be his name.

thats what you get for letting a guy fight for a title when hes never even beaten a top 10 guy...if thats gonna be the case for a while, why rank them?

Vitali is doing his bet to get Haye into the ring. Vitali or Vlad will knock Haye out, but Haye has proven his is afraid to fight them.
