The thing with Ward and Kovalev is that Ward has seen Kovalev but Kovalev has never seen Ward and Ward don't intend to be seen until fight night. He fought Barrera to test his strength and found that he was ready, he fought Brand just as a tune up. Ward knows what he has to do and it will be up to Kovalev to make the adjustments. Maybe he can and maybe he can't but it's Ward's fight to win or lose. He holds all the intangibles. Kovalev's prevailing asset is his power and to be honest, who has knocked straight out? He stopped a lot of guys but they were standing right in front of him. Fighters like Hopkins and Chilemba who showed movement went the distance and neither one of them is on Ward's level. Ward is gonna make him pay and honest price for his mistakes and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Ward started backing him up in the later rounds. Saying that Ward has no power is just wishful thinking by some gents but he has the power to keep Kovalev honest and to marinate and knock him out. I'm not saying Kovalev can't win because he can and he might but my odds are on Ward.

I can't think of a single boarderline world level opponent Ward has remotely hurt aside from zombie Dawson. Even dentable guys like Miranda, Green and E-Rod.

P.S. Berrera tripped on Ward's foot pretty obvious on the replay funny how some are still selling it as a legit KD.

P.P.S. Funny how the OP troll makes this thread a day or two after video of Shabranskyy dropping Brand with 16oz gloves and headgear on came out.

Maybe he hurts them to the body, and takes away their power for the full 12 rounds, I don't know. All I know is you don't have to hit a guy on the chin to hurt him, but that's just me.

If you get hit enough times, especially if you are unprepared, you will be hurt. Ward is very accurate, slick and carries just enough power to open a cut or close an eye if he keeps chipping away. There are lots of ways to hurt a guy or stop him. If Kovalev can't see, he can't fight. And the fight could be stopped that way. If Chilemba can land that jab at will, Ward is going to land almost anything he wants. He almost always sets up his punches.

Ward goes to the body too. Kovalev won't like that too much. And when he thinks Ward is going back to the body, his head gets flown. And vice versa. When he thinks Ward will remain on the back foot, he gets clinched and roughed up on the inside. And vice versa.

Kovalev boxes well and hits hard. But, his defense is nothing to brag about. He is not that fast either. Good reflexes though. You can't get careless with him. It just so happens Ward is a perfectionist...rarely if ever careless.

Ward is going to play speed chess with Kovalev for 12 rds. And he will give him enough different looks to make his head spin. I could be completely wrong. But, I see it going like this. Ward should know, he will need almost every trick in the bag to deal with Kovalev.

    :D Answering the threads question...

I don't see Ward "busting up" Kovalev with Ward's feather fists.

:hey Kovalev can "BUST UP " Ward... and likely will win with a TKO.
