Why would he have to move up? Because his detractors are desperate to see him lose?

Ward's fans want Golovkin to move up 8 lbs. and fight Ward in his first fight at 168 in Ward's home town, with Ward's personal referee, judges and boxing commission, commentators to tell you who is winning the fight.

STEVENSON CALLED WARD OUT LIVE ON HBO, SAID HE WOULD FIGHT WARD AT 175 OR EVEN GO DOWN TO 168, BUT WARD STILL REFUSED TO FIGHT HIM. WARD WILL NOT EVEN FIGHT STEVENSON AT 168!

He'll eventually move up but he isn't having much trouble making 168 right now and I'm sure that he would like to fight GGG and Jr. at some point, as those are the biggest fights available in the 160-168 range. As a result, I suspect that he'll stay at 168 for at least another year.

The SOB Ward should fight Stevenson at 168, after all, Stevenson said he would fight Ward at 175 or even come down to 168, but Ward ran like Hell.........

I have yet to be convinced that Ward possesses enough ambition to try to conquer a second weight division. He's never gone out of his way to make a fight, when discussing potential match-ups with fighters in different divisions he's always talking them coming to him, and, I dont know, he just strikes me as comfortable at Super Middleweight. He might prove me wrong.

"Should not have to fight contenders with his resume"

My god some people need there head checking, who has he beat ?

A past prime Kessler (and did this by headbutting the man into submission almost)
A good but not great Froch
A weight drained and overrated Dawson
then you have Abraham good but not great again and Bika old and well past prime.

That is a pretty weak resume really, even Joe C has a stronger record than that and people hammer him for having a crap resume.

Lets be real Ward is fighting in I think the weakest ever SMW division and has had the benefit of a hometown ref and judges in the majority of his fights.

For me he still has it all to prove he is a good fighter but great not a chance if he steps up he should have to fight contenders, Kovalev would KO him IMO

Mr Pibb someone has a pop at a black fighter and Pibb comes crawling out of his racist hideaway.

What a surprise as well still banging on about GGG, tried to call me a fanboy of his without actually looking at my previous posts and realising he was just talking out of his ass as usual.

How you feeling now 1 of your ghettofabulous idols Broner finally found out how average he really is ?

You ready to have a debate about Ward or you just going to be ******ed and mention GGG as your defence ?

Is this a joke? Dawson said the same thing. Ward beat the hell out of him and got ZERO credit and people bad mouthed Ward for weeks.

Ward probably doesn't move up because there are no big names at 175. There are good fighters, but not big names. Ward can't sell a PPV alone and the average person has no idea who Kovalov of Stevenson is.

Chavez Jr has a name (that's probably all he has, and it's his dads), Froch has a huge name, Bute has a name (if he can string a few wins together).

    1. Stay at your natural weight class where you are champion and can make more money.

    2. Move up for no reason to make less money.

It's should be an obvious choice

I'm fine with Ward staying at super middleweight for now. Had it not been for his shoulder injury and his legal issues with his promoter Goossen, he could have really wiped out the entire division and unified all belts.

Ward will move up when he finds it difficult to make 168, probably in a year or two. I'm glad Ward isn't chasing after fights in other weight classes. He should do HIS thing and establish his own legacy. If that means cleaning out 168 for another 2 years, so be it. So many guys have tried to chase fights in other weight divisions only to have their careers derailed. Ward is playing it smart.

    :yep:good

Its strange that he doesn't want to move @ 175. @ 168 his options are very limited. Besides Bika II, Froch II and Groves, there are no other decent fights for Ward.

@ 175 he'd have a very good competition in Stevenson, Kovalev, Hopkins and Pascal vs Bute winner. :deal:bbb
