unless the Froch fight is a close fight then Bute would be the last one left

He has a belt. & if Ward wins he will have already beaten all the other decent SMW's

By the time he faces him, which I think is Fall/Winter 2012-13, Bute will have beat semi-finalist Johnson and former S6 favourite & WBO champ Kessler. Slight, I say slight possibility of KO in either case.

    Is that not enough?

I don't think neither of Bute or Kessler goes straight for the S6 winner. Showtime is allowing the S6 winner to take it a bit easy after the final, and having a 2 belt vs 2 belt unification is very interesting to promote from everyone's perspective (Bute-Kessler venue being the only issue as there are advantages on both sides of the Atlantic). Also allows time for a rematch, should there be a need for it.

More $$$$$$$ for SHO that way.

yeah the belt is kinda bs anyway and Ward beaten everyone else has nothing to do with Bute, I asked what has bute done. I can see him fighting the loser of the final and if he wins then challenging the winner.

kinda hard to KO the elite at 168 and I just don't see it, anyway can look good against chumps its how you perform against top competition. aka pac, may, donaire, martinez. He just hasn't fought the best in the division, all i'm saying is time will tell, as of right now he hasn't earned it imo.

it depends on how the final played out? was it close? was it controversial? Lets talk about all this after its over.

If the final is close i got no-problems in a rematch and while waiting Bute could face Kessler to diserve a shot at the winner . But after this the winner would have to face Bute because he his the most diserving of the 168lbs fighter who didn't compete in the tourney

Overall I think Bute has a better resume than Ward

Bute beat Bika - better than Ward,
    Miranda - better than Ward,
Andrade twice, first time Andrade was the #3 SMW
    Joppy,
Zuniga, better than Cloud and Cloud beating Zuniga has put him above Dawson
    Brinkley
Berrio - Holds a win over Steiglitz
Magee who was European champ and world rated fighter who hadt lost in 10 fights and is now WBA INT Champ
    P Mendy undefeated
    In world title fights.

    Ward has beaten
Kessler - A very good win better than any name on Bute resume but remember that Kessler was an unwell fighter
Miranda not as clearly as Bute
Green - who lost to Miranda
Bika not as clearly as Bute
Abraham on a winning run of 1 injury victory and then 2 S6 losses the last being very decisive

Now Wards victory over Kessler (even if he wasnt unwell) isnt better overall than Andrade, Berrio, Zuniga etc.
Remember that Cloud scoring a victory on points over Zuniga put him above Dawson in The Ring rankings.
Against common opponents Bute has looked more impressive.
Andrade was a top 5 SMW when Bute beat him and Magee is a more accomplished SMW than any other SMW Ward has beaten besides Kessler.

If Ward beats Froch than I would put Wards resume above Butes even though Froch lost to Kessler.
