As I said, I don't blame the fighter about fouls. It's the ref's job. If I am Ward I am not changing my style, especially when fighting Kovalev.

I'm sure the big bad Russian will be able to handle it, no?

I hope he does. Big bad russian is supposed to be tough, not pampered.

The ref will be on krushers side. he is the house fighter. he is hbo's darling.
Hbo love action men. they want him to win, that's why Robert Byrd is in charge of the action.
Only the best man will win. Ward has no special liberties going into this fight.

Setting aside the Kessler fight, Ward doesn't always fight 'dirty'. I have a feeling he won't need to against Kov. Sergey may unravel if he gets frustrated early punching air and taking punches which he is unaccustomed to.

Only if he soils himself entering the ring.

He'll throw the first elbow, that's for sure.

Why not? He's got the "wily old vet" cred to get away with it. I give JDJ enough credit as a trainer to say he's well aware of it. If it hits Kovalev out of left field, that's a poor job of planning on their parts.

Yes, they can happen, but when its intentional and often, it's not boxing.

One fight, okay, excuse that boxer. Several, sorry he's cheating.

To his credit he's not showed us that part of his game for some time,up to the ref to keep it clean, his fists/gloves should do the talking,I hear Froch has said Ward will never lose to anyone in his career he rates him so much,I don't see size being an issue either as Ward looks every bit as big as Kovalev?

The film does not lie Billy. I would not call him a cheater, but he's got some of Hopkins dirty tricks in him for sure and has gone low, used elbows or worked kidneys. That's pretty dirty.
