Will Ward vs Kovalev be on par with Louis-schmeling in terms of historical significance?

People are so distracted with their personal lives and the election that they fail to realize that World War 3 is about to break out(most likely in 2017). The sequence of events that took place in this past decade WILL result in another world war(creation of isis, death of gaddafi, the second conflict in Libya etc.). a recent event that is still taking place like the CONFLICT IN SYRIA has made the very near-future commencement of World War 3 almost inevitable. I don't mean to be diplomatic and I hope I don't get banned for going off topic, but it's time to start paying attention guys. But just like the schmeling vs louis fight, this fight is taking place before the commencement of a great world war. Will this fight have the same significance? In 1938, it was the US vs Germany. Next month it will be US vs Russia.

    Discuss.

Eastpaw, I seriously doubt that the US and Russia are going to war over Syria. In the grand context of things Syria is already neutralized as any sort of possible threat to Israel and America (which it hasn't been for decades) and the US isn't stupid enough to go for broke when there's nothing to go for broke for. Now if Russia started a war with the Saudis or Israel or maybe even Turkey, that equation might change.

youre joking right? The United States and Russia have been on the brink of war for decades, Putin just(this week) tested a ballistic missile, so has china, and we(the United States) just opened up a new missile system a couple of days ago. Earlier this week, Putin called former residents and any migrants with ties to Russia to come back home(to Russia). The president of china just recently warned his citizens of an impending nuclear war.

This wouldn't be a war. Russia has "0" chance of ever beating the United States.

Actually they're just as advanced as us, and they have more nuclear weapons than we do. Russia is and has always been our greatest enemy.

If you don't believe me, look at castle bravo vs tsar bomba

US isn't run by americans. It is run by people whos main loyalty is to one of those other countries you mentioned in your post. That is also what Syria is about. 'These people' have wanted Assad gone for quite a while, and they would be quite willing for us to all kill ourselves over it.

Blizz, a war between the US and Russia will result in the destruction of both your countries and everybody else getting shafted by the fallout. Believe me on this. This is why neither side will push the red button for such small stakes.

Even assuming that policy directions such as "Rebuilding America's Defences" and "Securing the Realm" are still in force, I would argue that sufficient damage has been done to Assad to regard him as being effectively neutralized. The saying was always "Everybody wants to go to Baghdad, real men want to go to Tehran" ... NOT "let's go to Moscow and get out asses blown up". I assume that even the Neocon halfwits and their pals are clever enough not to go to open war - repeat, open war - with Russia. Israel would die as well in such a conflict. Nuclear holocaust holds no attractions to such a small country.

    blizz...i work for the DoD....

whether or not you believe russia is a threat in a full scale war or not isnt really an issue

but best believe they have the capabilities.....that any nuclear launch by us or by them assures were both done.....

the nuclear arms race is basically a dick swinging contest IMO....when two opposing parties have them there is no point....but when one wants to up their number of warheads and update the capabilities...its a dick swinging contest.....obviously the other side cant disarm or let their weaponry become outdated.....

were both basically at a point where its no longer a race or a contest...both are well equipped with nuclear warheads....now it just a contest to puff chests out

Blizz, you're deluded if you think you can win a nuclear war against the Russians.

    Nobody wins.

In a conventional war, I agree the US flattens the Russkies.

But that's the thing with nukes, in a mass exchange, you simply cannot intercept these things. You only need one missile to escape boost-phase interception to cross 8-12 major cities off the map because of warhead MIRVing. Both sides have hundreds if not thousands. Not only on land, but at sea in subs, as well, where boost phase interception is impossible. Don't kid yourself.
