Will Ward vs KOvalev do better on PPV , Than GGG vs Lemieux did?

I did vote, but it seems to me you are trying to argue that Ward is way more popular than GGG based on the poll. And that is not a fair comparison.

Ward vs Lemieux doesn't sell much, and GGG vs Kovalev would probably beat Ward vs Kovalev in terms of PPV view buys. The fact is that GGG has been promoted by HBO so much that he will do as many, if not more, PPV views than Ward given the same opponent.

And I say this as a fan of both GGG and Ward - I think they are both p4p-level talents.

None of the casuals I know even knows who Lemieux is

 

Some casuals I know do know Kovalev. In any case, when a fight is announced, the casuals take to Google/YouTube to find out if the guy is any good.

When they see Kovalev is undefeated, beat Hopkins, has huge power, they are inclined to buy the fight.

 

Ward is American so naturally his PPV will do much much better than a Kaszach vs. a French Canadian.

 

If Lemieux was an undefeated US olympic gold medalist, chances are that fight's PPV would surpass Kovalev vs Ward's. Ward is a more lucrative opponent than Lemieux if you're fighting on US soil, obviously - if this is an achievement.

 

The fight will do double GGGs PPV. 300k to 350k top side. We boxing fans will lose our minds waiting for this fight but not much casual interest. No mexican fanbase for either fighter.
