The WBC may impose conditions upon a new champion filling a vacant title, including but not limited to ordering the first defense of the title as a mandatory defense against a WBC designated challenger (who may be any Qualified Challenger or a challenger selected through a final elimination bout or a WBC-recognized tournament). It's general practice that if someone wins a Vacant title their first defence is a mandatory challenger. Haney fights Abdullaev for this mandatory position next week. Would the WBC even allow Loma to skip the mandatory challenger in order to unify?
Hmmm, good question! The alphabet soup gatekeepers of the belts never fail to surprise me. I hope he fights the Teo-Commey winner first. Haney is good but he’s still very young. I’d like to see him get a bit more experience before stepping up to the highest level. Haney-Tank might be a good matchup as Tank is moving to 135. Tank’s handlers would probably never allow it. Haney is not a smaller guy coming off a loss and stepping up in weight. Those seem to be Tanks requirements these days.
Yeah, there's a pretty good chance for politics to screw over Loma in his quest to get undisputed. Someone already brought up the nightmare possibility of the WBC making Loma "Franchise Champ"
The WBC does whatever they want to, that much is clear. Their vacant title being on the line for Loma-Cambell tells me that they want Loma to have it, so I highly doubt that they would **** him over so soon. I seriously doubt that Loma doesn't get to unify all four.
