Will we ever have a true atg in modern era?

  1. I don't like that mindset, if price is the real deal, he should face wlad in 12-18 months, with his size and power, if he fights well he'd definitely have a good chance.

Lewis is an ATG. Fought more punchers than any heavyweight champion, arguably.

Price is no spring chicken. I hope he does become an ATG however you don't become one by avoiding Klitschko's. He probably won't even fight Tyson Fury in his career.

If Calzaghe is an ATG, than so is Wlad.

Both were dominant in extremely weak divisions. They don't have the names, but through no fault of their own (although Calzaghe really could have fought RJJ earlier in his career). Ottke wasn't an option.

Calzaghe isn't an all time great, he could of been but his lack of fighting the best is what stops him in my book.

If Calzaghe had been KO'd by Eubank, Sheikah and Reid we wouldn't be talking about him as an ATG

So it's not really comparible in that way

I got such a good feeling about anthony joshua. I know he , in many eyes , got beat in the first round and was very lucky to get the desicion in the final BUT....... 4 years as an amatuer , 45 fights and an olympic gold medal, world silver medal by a cats whisker and hes only 22? Ok it could just be a good time due to poor quality in the ams SHW division but the thing that sold it for me was the way he fought in the last round. That boy showed no fear and put it all on the line. Hed of stopped cam in the next round!.Hes got a lot to learn but i just believe we got something special there!! Or is it just me?

it's far too early to tell with Joshua.

He should have made a first round exit in the olympics, although you cant read too much into three rounds sprints in headgear when it relates to the pros, regardless he is not a "true" olympic champion, so if there is any hype we need to remove it.

he's a young guy with some decent attributes but a lot to learn. He did have some good wins at amateur so far, but also some gifts and a couple of legit losses, it's a mixed bag.

Lewis KTFO by a crack head high on drugs who did nothing before or since, and left the ring on a stretcher after being chinned by a South African gardener boy.

Beaten on points by Ray Mercer but got a gift decision

Waited until Tyson was bloated, old and addicted to Anti depressants before finally fighting him

Lost the second fight to an ancient and slow Holyfield after drawing the first.

Was losing on points to Vitali before the fight was stopped due to a cut, and refused him a rematch because he knew Vitali had his number.

He was a plastic brit, is Canadian and speaks with a Canadian accent.

Yes, what an all time great BRITISH fighter Lewis was:deal

Politics and multiple titles will not allow it.

A fighter like Mayweather in terms of skill level will stand up to anyone in history but his resume, whether down to himself or anyone else in boxing will not. Same goes for Roy Jones Jnr.

Fact is take any fighter in history they would swap there resume for Floyds bank balance.

From GB, Lennox. The man has done enough for this to simply be beyond dispute. JC is borderline.

Apart from Cleverly and Pavlik, probably not.
