I admit that I make a bunch of typos when I post on here. Understand that I'm not trolling, but simply telling the truth. I see you and your friend are both from the UK where it seem kind of popular to hate on Hopkins. You're still mad about " I will not lose to a white person" You guys were hoping Joe will get more respect here in the U.S. after his split decision win over Hopkins. Since the respect was not afforded to Joe, you people have resorted to undermining and disrespecting Hopkins accomplishments. Hopkins wins over Pavlik, Pascal, and Antonio Tarver were all clean victories. These guys were either on the top ten pound for pound list or coming off of big victories when Hopkins beat them. Besides the fight against Wright some years back, what other Hopkins fight will your categorize as being dirty? Stop hating and understand that you're a witness to history.
almost every pro athlete on earth is using something. most multiple things. just like every politician is a crook.
I think even in this day in age, with all the ped's and training aids available, athletes still age at a similar rate(albeit a bit older). You look at guys like Kobe and Kevin Garnett in basketball. They've both naturally come down a bit due to wear and tear of their tendons and ligaments. Although boxing is a much more brutal sport, they do have the benefit (at least at the elite level) of fighting more infrequently to where their bodies can get sufficient rest and recovery. There's a reason why in the NBA you don't see anybody approaching mid 40s. You look at guys like Grant Hill, Steve Nash or even Jordan with the Wizards. Eventually they succomb to age.
its a shame (in one way) that 'us versus them' always seems to rear its ugly head when Hopkins/jones/calzaghe threads are made I don't think the rivalry is a bad thing at all, but it is when people become so defensive/patriotic that they lose perspective when they are debating it under war+en, calzaghe knew big fights would most likely not 'come to him' - not the real big ones, the career defining fights it's always been the way under war+en and it most likely always will be after saying that, calzaghe was undoubtedly the SMW king, and since the US networks didn't warm to the division, it was very much like the HW division under the klitschkos now saying calzaghe won't be remembered as a great fighter is probably the point where 'us versus them' becomes more personal for some, but because he never fought jones or Hopkins when it mattered, there really isn't a case in his favor (outside of SMW) excellent fighter and a great SMW but outside of Britain he won't be remembered as great by most I would wager, though a shoe-in for HOF
